The Outer Space Treaty represents the basic legal framework of international space law. Among its principles, it bars states party to the treaty from placing weapons of mass destruction in Earth orbit, installing them on the Moon or any other celestial body, or otherwise stationing them in outer space. It exclusively limits the use of the Moon and other celestial bodies to peaceful purposes and expressly prohibits their use for testing weapons of any kind, conducting military maneuvers, or establishing military bases, installations, and fortifications (Article IV). However, the Treaty does not prohibit the placement of conventional weapons in orbit and thus some highly destructive attack strategies such as kinetic bombardment are still potentially allowable.[6] The treaty also states that the exploration of outer space shall be done to benefit all countries and that space shall be free for exploration and use by all the States.

The treaty explicitly forbids any government to claim a celestial resource such as the Moon or a planet.[7] Article II of the Treaty states that "outer space, including the Moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means". However, the State that launches a space object retains jurisdiction and control over that object.[8] The State is also liable for damages caused by their space object.[9]

Can you imagine the results if the United States invested the same amount of money in space as we do other branches?

Side note everything now that Donald Trump does has to be examined through the lens of race as they have run out of ideas. This particular person is truly delusional to think that it eludes to some type of segregation.

I really don't see how you managed to see racism in this story. It's dumb, it's a waste of cash, especially considering how much the US already spend in military, but racism? He just meant that he's creating a space division of the army..

I mean, the space marines program is a stupid idea at this point in time, but this has absolutely nothing to do with race. He wants it to be separate from the other branches, but not more or less important/funded than them.

But go ahead and literally make everything about race.

I'm quite excited that we might be working towards moving into space again.

However, I'm wondering how many of the scoffers would have scoffed at Kennedy saying "We are going to the moon".

"We must have American dominance in space"

This quote should be heralded by the entire world as a gleaming example why the rest of the world thinks your country is insane.

Who doesn't want advancements in space technology? Not the U.S's fault that other countries are more concerned about 3rd world shitholes than the advancement of mankind and/or the savior of the human race if an asteroid, or other population ending event takes place

This is pure insanity. Trump derangement syndrome is a real thing apparently. There's nothing racial about anything he said in that clip.

Pfft international treaties, agreements and alliances are only there to cushion the shoes of the mighty god king trump
But seriously he not separating the space army into races, he’s separating them from the airforce. If you want to hate on trump there probably dozens of legimate things you could use instead of trying to make this shitty reach

You are aware that investing in and building up third world countries is the "advancement of mankind," right?

Moreso than Trump foaming at the mouth about how he wants to play space man.
