I saw it, but they still originally posted that they knew about the issue 5+ hours ago on twitter. 5 hours and you still can't fix your authentication server issues is not a good look.

Shit happens man. At least its just the prepatch and not the expansion.

People seem to think that because you could do something else, that you have no right to be frustrated.

The circle jerking on the CS twitter is a pile of the same "it's only 10c of your time", "you can just do something else", "you aren't an engineer, you can't talk unless you fix it".
It really feels like you have a group of loud people who sit at home all day, and don't understand that when you're working all the time, sometimes all you have to look forward to is a few hours playing WoW.
Not being able to do that, while at the same time getting the copypasta bull from people is so aggravating.

My own server (Dalaran-US) has been up, then down, then up, then down ... repeatedly for a couple hours now. But when it's online, it's still impossible to log in.

I didn't plan on being able to get on before maybe 8pm EDT, but it's really looking like that should be 8pm tomorrow.

I'd hazard a guess you've never had to interact with an angry customer before, so I'll explain it for you.
People type/talk angrily about a problem because it makes them feel better.
Nobody thinks that by calling a CS rep up and shouting, or going on a forum and hate posting that the situation will suddenly correct itself.
They do it because it takes the anger from inside and puts it outside.
The number one rule of customer service is to let the customer vent.

So when you come to the defense of the small indie developer, Blizzard, all you do is direct that hate at yourself.
Let people vent, Blizzard doesn't need you to defend them, they'll be okay.

It's gonna be more funny when you finally will be able to log in and then try to find out all the stuff that is broken or bugged. Patch day business as usual... EU here so I'll see tomorrow but I was betting with a friend they're gonna break some shit again, since it already happened in 7.2 and 7.3.5 and this is a bigger set of changes that both of the above combined. It's probably gonna be something like "scheduled maintenance until 11 but nothing works until 3pm at the very least". We'll see...

Horrible login issues at the moment. I can get to character select screen, but problem is that it goes to load me into game world, then gets various stages of loading before it does nothing.

I found a workaround for those of us stuck on high pop auto login, but with low pop alts

What happens if you manually enter the realm name that you are trying to access?

Here's how:

1. Open the World of Warcraft/WTF folder.
2. Open the config.wtf file using Wordpad.
3. Locate the SET realmName "Area 52" line.
4. Change the "Area 52" to the realm you want to access. Don't forget the quotes.
5. Save and close the config file.

The set realm name line no longer exists in that form, but stuff it in there and save. you'l;l get realm select. /cheers.
