I do miss gems and gem socketing (and their associated bonuses).
The glyph system in WoTLK was great too
But you’re posting in the Vanilla sub-forum and these are all post-Vanilla changes, haha!

WoTLK, fuck off!
I loved old talent tree it was good feeling when you could spend points after lvl up but now you get it every 15 lvl ...
vanilla tbc and wotlk are all on the same boat for me! good times
To be fair, Glyphs were just the same as zerite but easier to get and Tiersets were just frustrating when they didn't drop. Talents tho..
Character customization and deterministic loot in a RPG? Surely you can't be serious
good times, good times
Nothing says character customization like if you didn't choose the right glyphs, gems, and talents you performed sub-par....no nothing like live WoW
The most interesting thing about this thread, which is originally from reddit, is the most upvoted answer.
I think any player should read it.
I do wonder if the old talent trees were around today how ridiculous it would look lol. Up there with Path of Exile in just outrageous talent trees :P
It’s not half, it’s 100%. None of those pics are from vanilla. Vanilla talents trees were horrible, they did better with them in BC and better yet in wrath ie no more + wand damage.
Also sets were also awful in vanilla. They either only Catered to one spec of your class or worst yet, they very poorly itemize to all of them (looking at you druid sets) so you were better off avoiding them. I still remember the smarter Druid players letting the noobs waste their DKP on sets while they saved theirs for cloth or rogue gear.
