In the 2 1/2 months since Cuba allowed its citizens internet access via cellphones, fast-moving changes are subtle but palpable as Cubans challenge government officials online, post photos of filthy school bathrooms and drag what was one of the world’s least-connected countries into the digital age. Communist authorities, in turn, are having to learn how to deal with more visible pressure coming from outside of party-controlled popular and neighborhood committees.

Even though Cuba has allow the masses to access the internet, all traffic on Cuba passes through one government ISP and all internet traffic is logged on the Cuban firewall. So it's not really free.

Still, nice to change happening.

That's called communism in much of the world. Socialism includes communism, granted, but the op seems to be confusing the two. There is a lot of socialism in most European countries.

I'm not sure what comments made you facepalm, but if it's the ones you quoted you may want to stop hitting yourself. Most people know that communism is an extreme form of socialism (although that's debatable to be fair especially communism as we had it historically), however the way the OP phrased it is absolutely silly and warranted these answers. The issue with Cuba is NOT socialism, it's communism and the fact it is an autocracy.
