I agree. Doing the story should have "unlocked" the races. I mean... you are unlocking the race for your faction, not your own personal character. It doesn't make much sense.

I find them horribly boring, but it's straight forward and easy. I just hate the time gate, how there's just no way to earn more rep in a day than the game allows. On days with no Emissary, the small gain you get in rep from doing the WQ's feels pointless, but it adds up, just makes it a little hard to justify spending 30+ minutes a day (depending on which rep you're going fo and how many WQ's are available) when you gain so little.

They are an award for completion of a story and being exalted ... this is pretty standard fair.

They are essentially just cosmetic changes unless you are big into min-maxing.
