Simply said, few things (except Nazis and the CSA) irritate me than YouTube videos of fans ''fixing'' movies, comics, videogames, books, TV shows, anime…This is not to say that X,Y or Z is without flaws, but it always struck me of sheer arrogance of people, who are mere fans, be so sure of themselves that they are persuaded that they would do better than professionals.

No, actually, I have the opinion that WOW story is fluff, that have to follow basic contingences such as ''one faction cannot crush the other'' and that scenarists have to work around that.

Other example : I overheard that on the Internet, you can possibly find from time to time movies that features very little clothing. Presumably, those movies have plots that are always solved by ''acrobatic callisthenics with various household implements that are quite robust but will have to be replaced afterward nonetheless''.

Well, I think "The story is a shitshow" is a fairly useless opinion, whereas "I would fix the story this way" is more constructive criticism.

I don't think there's any "fixing" WoW or Star Wars to satisfy the vocal minority of their fanbase, however.

I recently watched a video on youtube that provided criticism of the recent Battle of Winterfell, though, and it was pretty spot on with how awful their "battle plan" was, and some very simple changes that don't take a tactical genius to think up.

the bastards at disney had a whole collection of expanded universe to pull from, they trashed it to make what was basically a poorly made fan remake of a new hope. they also continued the mystical crap, that i wish star wars would reduce.

blizzard is purposefully ignoring powerful weapons/beings in lore just to write a specific story they want to tell, that is the definition of bad writing. they're also pulling the same things capeshit pulls, sylvanas ripping strength straight from her asshole because they wanted to make their story work, when she actually should have been immediately killed by malfurion.

This is an oversimplification of things, at best. They're writers because their work was acknowledged at some point and they landed a break they needed. And that's really the only difference between a fan who writes and a writer who writes.

Or to put this another way, one of the founding members of the WoW dev team was a guild leader in EQ.. and that's about it.

Its because fans are passionate about the things they like, and when you're passionate you can often be outspoken and complain about minor details, and that people love to complain for the sake of complaining.

Telling people how you would do things differently can be constructive criticism, however the VAST majority of people who do this come across as whiny assholes complaining that the story is terrible because their favourite character didn't win or an event didn't go the way they wanted it to. (Look at the lore subforum, dear god...)

You can often tell these apart quite easily at least, the biggest indicator is bandwagon memes. If a person has to resort to these sorts of memes in their criticism, they should immediately be ignored.

I'm far more forgiving on WoW writing than the steaming pile of shit GoT has become. Blizzard make video games first and write stories second.

Having said that, WoWs writing is pretty bad atm, but I can look past that because it has no bearing on me enjoying some aspects of the game. GoTs writing is all it has, and its fallen apart

Game of Thrones writing is at times trash tier just to 'subvert expectations' by ignoring 7 seasons of build-up and character development. It deserves everything it gets. If you don't want people to 'fix' it, then double check your continuity.

I have a pretty simple way of looking at it.

If you like the direction that the story of X is going...that's a valid opinion
If you don't like the direction that the story of X is going... that's a valid opinion

I do find however there are people that, after they decide thery don't like something about the direction the story of X is heading, they will start getting really fucking nitpicky about every little thing..and, while that's still a valid opinion, it's petty and annoying.
