According to a source who spoke with Yahoo Sports, Nike began a movement to pull the shoe from stores nearly two weeks ago after Kaepernick and others raised concern that the “Betsy Ross Flag” printed on the heel of the company’s 4th of July-themed Air Max 1 was not only racially insensitive, but had also been adopted by some groups such as the Patriot Movement and Identity Evropa (pronounced “Europa”) allegedly as a symbol of white nationalism.

So nike had it brought to their attention that the flag given the time period is racially insensitive because... (let's celebrate the 1700s... when... hmm right that wasn't a great time maybe let's not) and then its use as of late is with white nationalist. Why would any company want to use that?

LoL no one cares that some edge lords tried to make the flag their own on some obscure website. You literally have to look up on the internet to find someone who uses the flag in a "racist" way. I love how you try to act like everyone knows this Europa group. LoL you real funny dawg.

I also love how you didnt bold the part of his retard quote "x 1 was not only racially insensitive, but..." So, not only is it bad because obscure internet site used it, but its also somehow racially insensitive.

Me calling him a fucking moron is being nice. . . . .

And when the fuck did a reasonable person like yourself start giving this kind of dipshittery retardation any water?

What about a flag that call us back to the days of slavery is not racially insensitive?

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey announced Tuesday he was ordering the Arizona Commerce Authority to withdraw incentives for Nike building a manufacturing plant in the state.

“Words cannot express my disappointment at this terrible decision. I am embarrassed for Nike,” Ducey, a Republican, tweeted. “Nike is an iconic American brand and American company. This country, our system of government and free enterprise have allowed them to prosper and flourish.

More states need to do what Arizona has.

Because it's not enforceable. The Flag Code, in all relevant instances, states that one should do X or Y. It does not state that an individual must, shall, or shall not. That's permissive language, not mandatory language.

Basically, it's codifying what are considered to be proper observances to the US flag and what one should do, but it's not (nor could it) state what one must do. Therefore, the Flag Code would consider the shoes offensive, but by no means illegal.

I would consider the shoes to be in violation in my eyes. Tacky, and just plain in bad taste. It goes against proper traditional values of the Flag Code and should probably be adhered too. Good job on NIKE for following suit in removing the in question product.

Wait you support a random state trying to damage a company because they don't want to portray a flag that as of late has been getting used by white nationalist?

Of course it is a Republican lawmaker...

Older people, and republicans, and older republicans have this weird vindictive mindset about things for no fucking reason.

"How dare they not want to portray a flag from the 1700s that as of late has been used by white nationalist!!! fuck them I'm going to try to damage the company!"

I wonder if these so called NAZI sympathizers are just really Nationalists NEEDING certain things. Unlike socialists which agree that the many outweigh the few.. Idk, but, the call to nationalism is huge now because, of trump.

I agree they're in bad taste and, honestly, just ugly. Admittedly, I feel the same way about American flag bikinis and boxers. My point was though that it's not illegal, based on the statute.

Identity Evropa, rebranded as American Identity Movement in March 2019, is an American neo-Nazi and white supremacist organization established in March 2016.

Just so we are clear about Arizona, to own the Libs the governor wants to throw away:

Because "how dare they not slap a controversial flag on their private product!"

These are the terms that nike needed about 500m worth in incentives?

Sounds like it may have been spurred on by the Trump campaign hating, bigoted, and words he's spewed out at his rallies at people. It's been really nasty....

LoL, Im sorry, Im trying hard not to laugh in your face right now.

So If one obscure website, with less traffic than SpaceJam.com, claims the flag is a hate symbol, it is? That's still your argument?

    Tank the employment rate?

Why is it wrong for Nike to call out the blatant hypocrisy of so-called patriots regarding the flag?

It's bad to burn it or kneel during the national anthem, but it's totally okay to cake the flag in dogshit on your heels.

If you spent as much time bitching about racists appropriating history as you do bitching about liberals having to react and "erase history", it might not be such an issue for you.

Yep and now his SJW agenda is costing Nike millions because Arizona just pulled millions of tax incentives subsidies from Nike who was about to build a plant in Arizona.

His reasoning is that slavery existed when it was used (Not that its flown in support of slavery, just that it existed) but I hate to tell him but slavery was used continuously by many nations since before the great pyramids were built. So I hope plans to protest everything that was used prior to the mid 1800s

I bet WA or CA offer them incentives now instead. The only thing he did was cost his own state. Your last line is ironic too, since Conservatives are running out of name brand products they're able to buy for just about anything.

Flag code refers to actual certified flags otherwise Uncle Sam is in big fucking trouble.

But I support AZ on their decision because incentives for larger companies to dodge taxes is bullshit to smaller companies.
