Nah, that's just how Blizzard tells the story. Bubble up, explode, rebalance, repeat.

Or instead of Alliance and Horde, they could introduce new opt-in subfactions that aren't necessarily drawn on the old faction lines, treating the PC as a mercenary sellsword. These PvP oriented alignments could be more dynamic, changing with the story of each expansion or maybe even from season to season.
OMG 13:37 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Cleave unto me, and I shall grant to thee the blessing of eternal salvation."

And His disciples said unto Him, "Can we get Kings instead?"

You joking right? 10yo wouldn't be fooled by it. It is painfully obvious that this faction setting has been setback for storywriting as they need to consider both sides each time.

Wouldn't be fooled by what? The story is written out the same every time. Where have you been? Literally every single expansion deals with the faction conflict. Literally every single expansion has both factions ultimately come together. Literally every expansion has a point where relations then breakdown again. It has been a cornerstone of the story since the inception of the fucking IP.

There's no chance in hell they are removing the core identity of the game (orcs vs humans). You are legit dreaming.
