What is the point of raiding?

So, this is where Classic loot tables shine over Retail.
Raiding in Classic is relevant through the entire game.

Guilds will raid MC weekly even when Naxx is released.

Unfortunately Retail raiding is pretty obsolete other then the experience.

This is one of the biggest weakness of retail, imho.

great for catching up alts, but when the only content that's relevant is the newest patch... it makes the world smaller and smaller.

Yep, major flaw in retail - really is.
There's zero incentive to go back for old content.

even worse, it undercuts the very nature of a progression ladder of having to beat A to get to B. B to get to C, etc etc.

If you had to actually work your way up through the tiers, unlocking the different zones of dailies along the way (but only after a certain ilvl i suppose) the game would be a lot better.

It is way too seasonal and feels more like diablo 3 than WoW in terms of how the systems work.

The only content that matters is the new patch, and if you missed the entire expac don't worry because its all worthless now.

You end up with much less content overall

Raiding is the whole point of the game, always has been. Other things like M+ or PVP were only ever afterthoughts to try to extend the game's marketability to more people.

The only point of raiding is gear and character progression, Anything else is irrelevant.
