You wrote/said something and now that you lost are trying to retroactively correct it. Trump was impeached. You made zero specifications about when or why. Either you're telling the truth and under contact law you'd still be on the hook because it's your responsibility to know what you're proposing or you're a liar trying to move goal posts.

It's going to be dangerous to flat-out say "no", even though there are laws for exactly that. It will be called a coverup, even though the Party of Law and Order should not say following the law is a coverup.

So instead, the only way to follow through is to have the Senate write out questions ahead of time, and let the whistleblower's lawyer answer them.

It was good enough for Trump, so it's good enough here.
