There isn't one.

I played Settlers 4, which is an RTS, on iPad. Works great. So does Civilization 6.

The problem with mobile is that the business model converged on microtransactions and gambling mechanics, even more so than on the desktop.

If Homeworld Mobile isn't full of that garbage, it'll be great.

We also have Nintendo and now Apple, of all companies, pushing back hard against that business practice.

Mobile gaming can be great. It just needs developers more concerned with quality and happiness with purchases (so they pay more), and less concerned with # of purchases.
I fear that app-stores sorting by popularity (i.e. how often do people download/buy this item) has caused this.

We need curators like reviewers. Steam does a great job here, and that is the primary reason gamers like it so much.

Mobile games are cancer -_- if devs decided to make something thats decently good and not overflowed with microtransactions, time gates, and boring idleplay rpg mechanics then it would raise the bar and flush out the trash.

I bet the arcade game generation said the same thing about PCs and consoles. We are a dying breed. Today's generation is growing up touching screens in the car, the fridge, the toilet... it's perfectly normal for them to also play on phones. (sadly)


On topic: Isn't there a new Homeworld game coming to PC too? So, that's the best way to introduce an old franchise into mobile, throw a bone to the old crowd too

Mobile games are totally not my cup of tea - especially with controls and a too small screen - but people calling it cancer and rather accepting Stalin back if he got rid of them are just pathetic in a way of having a long way on their way to become human beings (yeah..I get it...I bet they were "just making a joke". hey...in that case..I'd prefer them to actually make a joke how they rather fuck their mom, grandma, sister, brother, granddad and dad if it gets rid of mobile games...I mean..if you really want to be tasteless...go all out with your own familiy instead of with monsters / diseases who killed millions.)

It's not really a gaming platform, unless you consider a casino a gaming platform. Most of the games are extremely simplistic and clearly take the f2p gacchi model to a disturbing extreme. There are very few games that are good and with a decent monetary model. The last I found by accident was Archero which is actually fun and progress able without paying.

But where are the platform releases, 4x games, turnbased RPGs, strategy, there are games that work with mobiles controls, but there are no releases. Only more gacchi games pretending to be real games.

It will be a route of gaming in the future, but it won't be the future of gaming, not even close. It's more likely that devs will transition to making mobile titles and not continue making real gaming titles. But there will always be a real gaming market and customers who dont want anything to do with "mobile" titles (unless they are actually games)

I play FF 5 on mobile, that is pretty awesome tbh I will most likely buy more FF games in the future, like FF7 and 9 and 8 if it ever comes out there.
