What I don't understand though, is why all the Night Elf hairstyles look so low-poly. I love the new ones added yesterday, but truth be told even they look a little janky if you zoom in and look at the details.

They're not in HD yet I guess

Old human hairstyles also don't use the new (higher res) textures that the new hair like 'the quiff' and 'the wizard' use. :s

Compare that to Allied Races like Kul Tirans and their hair looks so much more smooth and detailed.

Are there inherent problems with the old WoD-models that can't be fixed without substantial reworks, or are they trying to keep the new hairstyles inline with the old ones so it doesn't come off as too big of a departure from those?

I mean... the Night Elf female model has like 1-2 old hairstyles which look good. The rest look more like coloured rocks or straws of hay. Not sure why they don't simply update many of those.

I mean, I think it can work on some races, regardless of how I feel about em.

Mainly Trolls, Orcs and Undead.

Night Elves get away with it because of the side-braids, I think. Otherwise, I'm personally kind of eh about them and my associations with them don't make that better.

Glad I'm not the only one who isn't fond of that type of hair, though.
(Ye ye, I know. Don't like it, don't use it, and I won't. But these are just my opinions and I feel like they'll age about as well as the emo haircuts did in Cataclysm)

Though the changes aren't as dramatic as for everyone, my Druid will also enjoy the customization additions.

Though hopefully they add one more necklace that is exactly like the one in the picture, but with a crescent moon pendant.
I feel that would be a really good fit and without being pedantic, would only really require adding the crescent moon mesh that they have for one of the earrings at the end. The current pendant feels almost.. Forsaken-like?

I would instantly play night elves if they had at least 1 pretty relaxed face. There is 1 youthfull face with a smile, but she wears heavy lipstick.
Bit sad none of the customisation options so far are new faces. We still have to choose faces that were made in 2004 and then updated in WOD to be as close to the original as possible. It's time for some new fresh faces. Smiling gnomes, scarred night elves, velenlike draenei, ...

Maybe, yeah. But it just reminds me of a Forsaken Warfront set.

As I said, hopefully we get the same type of necklace but with a crescent moon at the end instead of a gem.

Wouldn't be exactly the same as in the pic, but close enough for me. A crescent moon necklace is only logical, isn't it?

I really feel you. Only humans got anything remotely approaching new faces. And here I was hoping I could finally play my dream Draenei.

Same. That and the other picture are pretty much great guidelines for what Blizzard can give Night Elf females. And in fact they did get a lot of that. Just missing those types of earrings and the choker/necklace.

They got the leaves in the hair, the forehead pendant and the nose piercing.

Big same. On the jewelry note, for Draenei, it seems like Blizzard might make the jewelry color something you can alter.

Alpha is alpha, these textures might disappear next build, but hopefully it happens.

Yeah. Even if not for 9.0, I hope they do plan to add new faceshapes. Really craving them mainly for Draenei to get those sharper and more exotic looks.

Also for the love of god customizable crests for females and hair and crest/horn styles separate for males. Oh and one longer option for Draenei male tails. Yes, I know I am needy.

Of course, it's probably harder to make a troll face than it is to make a human face. I mean, it seems like most of the Horde races just have variations of my lips are chapped

One thing with Troll males is that they have a lot of exaggerated features, like Goblins. They have various different nose sizes, for one.

But they could do some minor facial bone stuff to pop the cheeks out, extend the chin a little, you get what I mean.
