I've played WoW since it launched and man, the amount of wow-celeb names that my friends have droped in conversations and I have no clue who they are is impressive. Point is, it's really easy to not know things if you're not interested. I rarely watch any streamer, I don't interact with other forums other than mmo, I basically live in my little WoW-boubble where I do stuff that I do while being quite oblivious to influencers.
I had an idea of whom Reckful was by name, not much more. The news about his death still struck me hard. Every suicide is so sad, and quite difficult to see comming. You don't show depression in public but when you're alone by yourself it comes creeping and you can go from a neutral state to a very depressed on in seconds
R.I.P.
Of course there are arguments over whether or not people have heard of him, or whether it's newsworthy. How dare mmochamp put text in front of your eyes that you didn't want to read! Get over yourselves, it was newsworthy enough for the community that they posted it, allow me to apologize on their behalf for the inconvenience.
I have barely heard of Reckful, and I've played since the start. That doesn't change that he was a major contributor to the community, rest in peace.
@kodemonkee Just to notice you were right, here's his roommate statement. https://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sradgv
That's horribly sad. Horribly horribly sad. Reading through the comments on Reddit and sucha bout this and the comments from his friends I think we need a lot more education on mental illness. Bipolar disorder is pretty common and very misunderstood, even by loved ones of people that have it. Bad Hollywood depictions of it probably don't help much either.
I think Gen Z is much more social than us millennials were tbh.
