FiveThirtyEight has the democrats narrowly ahead in both senate races. Might be hard to stay there with Republican shenanigans, but it's a good sign.

Former VP loser Sarah Palin and incoming Rep.-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene, yes that's the Q-anon lady, are out there campaigning for the GA runoff elections.

The lady that couldn't name a single paper she reads (or at all) and a lady who thinks that lizard-people are working with George Soros to harvest baby blood for socialism. Name a more iconic duo.

GOP darling and congressperson elect, Madison Cawthorn has some unsurprisingly racist thoughts about Raphael Warnock representing 'Real Americans'.

“It’s hard to look at his background and think that that represents what’s traditionally been red Georgia,” Kilmeade mused.

Cawthorn naturally took that dog whistle as an opportunity to engage in some extreme dog whistling of his own. “No, you’re absolutely right, and I love that he used the term ‘gangsters and thugs,’ because that’s the people that he wants to really protect,” Cawthorn responded. “He wants to take our police officers off the streets, make our families here in Georgia and all across the country in more danger, and protect and promote a society that benefits gangsters and thugs.” Cawthorn added, “Warnock wants to take away your police, and he wants to really make our country into a radical ash heap.”

25 yr old racist kid from North Carolina goes to Georgia and says candidate who was born and raised there and has been Pastor of Dr. King's church since the 90's...doesn't represent the people of the state.

Still the party of Reagan and Jesse Helms.

And then there's the commercials that are supposed to be hits on Warnock but instead make him seem more awesome :P

Biden cuts a new ad for Warnock and Ossoff. Is it effective?

It ties both runoff races to control Senate and directly to the fate of his plan to contain the coronavirus pandemic and economic recovery.

Apparently more people voted in the first day of early voting for the run off than in the first day of the general election. High turn out is generally a good thing.

    That is fantastic.

I can only imagine what the GOP shit-stains are doing in the back waters of that state to cheat.

Oh look, Republicans are trying to disenfranchise voters who voted in another state but moved to/registered to vote in GA for the runoffs. Note: They're not saying these are inherently fraudulent registrations.

    No.

They're selective misquoting a law to try to throw out these registrations, omitting the clause of the law that specifically allows for people who have moved following an election to vote in a special election after moving.

Once again, Republicans are the party of anarchy and hate laws when they inconvenience them.

The problem republicans in Georgia are having are two fold. First of all, there are a lot more people shedding light on their crap. This is not just going under the radar like in the past (thank you Stacey Abrams!). Second of all, Kemp has been vilified so badly by Trump and his supporters that he is not able to focus on voter suppression like he did in the past.

Anecdotal information: Lines are HUGELY long for early voting around here, which is anti-Trump territory.

And - the Ossoff / Warnock ads have gotten very awesome. They give very good reasons to vote for them. And they are collabberating on their ads, which is also quite effective. Plus they have the same tone as the recent Biden ad.

Meanwhile, the republican ads are getting more and more off the rails. Presumably this will motivate republicans to vote, but I suspect that them being so over the top will turn off some independents and also motivate democrats to vote in retaliation. The intent of the republican ads is to basically repeat the same harsh message over and over and over and over. This has been proven to be effective in the past, but it seems to me that they are well into the land of diminishing returns, and if they are not careful they will soon be seeing negative returns.

    Nice article:

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/democrats...093055905.html

Title: Democrats in Georgia: ‘Trump is helping our case.’

That’s because Republican voters who believe Trump’s claims are growing skeptical of the election. They’re flocking to Facebook, Parler and Gab and they’re threatening to sit this one out — putting Republican’s grasp on the Senate at risk if they follow through on Jan. 5.

Democrats are delighting in the GOP dissension, seeing it as the perfect opportunity to gin up their base. Yes, Trump told voters to elect incumbent Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. But the president is more worked up over a pair of top Georgia Republicans he thinks wronged him in the November election, calling Gov. Brian Kemp and Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger “clowns” and amplifying a supporter who said the two “will soon be going to jail.”
The attacks on Kemp are particularly harmful for republicans. With his power as governor and his willingness to "bend" the rules, he should be spending this month and the first week of next month doing what he can to keep Georgia red.

“Trump is helping our case,” said Cliff Albright, co-founder and executive director of the voting rights group Black Voters Matter. “If he had just taken the loss and just gone into a corner and just been quiet, then people would still just be celebrating the general election.

“But because he's still out there actively trying to steal the election — trying to steal Black votes or discount Black votes — it has basically allowed it to still be a referendum on Trump. Because he hasn’t shut up.”
It remains a referendum on Trump, who basically has been smearing Georgia republicans since early November.

So they are unfurling electoral fraud claims, all of them false and many of them absurd: Kemp and Raffensperger are agents of the Chinese Communist Party. Or the state’s voting machines have automatic “vote flipping” features and are tied to Hugo Chávez, the Venezuelan leader who died more than seven years ago.

The pressure has grown so intense that Kemp lashed out Thursday at pro-Trump conspiracy theorists for attacking his family, including his daughter who is mourning the death of her boyfriend, a former Loeffler staffer, in a recent car accident. “It has gotten ridiculous — from death threats, [claims of] bribes from China, the social media posts that my children are getting,” Kemp told reporters, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We have the ‘no crying in politics rule’ in the Kemp house. But this is stuff that, if I said it, I would be taken to the woodshed and would never see the light of day.”
This is disgusting It also is sad. Kemp does heroic acts by standing up to Trump and preserving democracy that is fiercely (and still) under attack, and he is not getting anything like a reward. I'd like him to pay a price for undermining democracy, like he did against Abrams, not for resolutely standing up for it.

At least he is distracted from putting forth full effort into helping the two republican Senate candidates. It's possible that he has not been helping them at all.

On Tuesday, Trump retweeted a tweet from Wood that claimed Kemp and Raffensperger would soon be in jail for not interfering in the presidential election. The tweet included a photo of the two Republican leaders sporting photoshopped masks emblazoned with the Chinese flag.

Trump “gave @BrianKempGA & @GaSecofState every chance to get it right. They refused. They will soon be going to jail,” Wood wrote. Similar posts can be seen across right-wing social media platforms like Parler and Gab, where conspiracy theories alleging Kemp’s involvement with the Chinese Communist Party have spread since the election.
This is a prelude as to what Biden and Harris will be up against in 1 month and 3 days (if not sooner).

Republicans are growing increasingly concerned that Trump’s decision to turn on his own — like Kemp and Raffensperger — for not aiding him in his crusade to reverse the election results will cost them the Senate. And it looks like Trump could be fine with that. The president has been aggressively fundraising for the Georgia runoffs, but most of the proceeds are going toward his newly launched PAC — not the candidates.
Trump is basically taking money meant to help the republican Senators for himself. This has been well documented in other threads. On the other hand, all four Senate candidates are SWIMMING in money.

I am beginning to think that there is a 50-50 shot of both democrats winning. We'll see how it turns out.

"Well yeah, I mean the situation we're in now, I would suggest that everybody in Georgia turnout on Election Day, and do it again: Vote for the Republican candidates in mass numbers and see what happens," Powell said, adding, "And it might be that they've even rigged the system so that the two Republicans win so they can say, 'Oh see? There's no problem.'"
The Immaculate Deception. If Democrats win, it's proof it's rigged. If Republicans win, it's proof its rigged and Democrats didn't want to get caught.

It's wonderful when you have a self-feeding conspiracy.

I mean, I still cannot imagine McConnell is having a good time having rejected 2k and an easy win to shield his people in Georgia. I mean Democrats are skilled at losing to Mitch McConnell, it is the one consistent trait that they cannot seem to ever win out against that guy. That and the likelihood that most of the money being raised is just being funneled into the high priced ecosystem of consultants who have no clue and are excellent at losing, there is still a good chance McConnell manages to keep power.

But rejecting 2k dollarydoos for everyone should be a death sentence. Plus McConnell went against Trump and Trumps voters seem to decamping and breaking against the GOP; so it is possible that McConnell is doomed at long last.

McConnel attached Trump’s demand for repeal of section 230 and election fraud... did the rising forget the obvious and predicted poison pill that McConnel enacted yesterday? Weird...

The bold... is your argument against the 2k counting as austerity? If you argue that money going directly to American people, is going to consultants, what’s the point? What’s the point of any social programs and support? M4A will exclude these consultants?

I hope everyone is smart enough to throw this shitty bill out. Because all repealing section 230 will do, is make sure that conservatives are banned more often, especially Trump for his repeated violations of their ToS.

No, it wouldn't. It would be like if someone walked into Walmart that was banned for shoplifting, and they were trespassing. They could simply have the trespassers removed, and face jail time for it. It would never probably touch the managers, or in this case Zuckerberg or Jack.

Republicans won the first election cycle over the 2k stimulus checks with the news reports about Perdue and Leoffler supporting the $2k stimulus bill. Well done republicans.

They are losing all the rest of them.

There are a good number of articles such as the following:

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/mitch-mcc...183006159.html

Title: Mitch McConnell says the Senate will consider Trump's demand for $2,000 stimulus checks but rejects initial vote

The article kind of tries to defend McConnell as he tries to get through the Georgia election cycle without allowing a vote on it. But the gist of this article, and many others is: democrats and Trump want to up the stimulus checks from $600 to $2k and put money into the pockets of every day Americans. McConnell and the republicans are blocking it.

Americans ARE getting the message too.

    https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com...-senate-polls/

Over the last couple of days, both Warnock and Ossoff have picked up ground against the two republicans. Ossoff is up by a full point, Warnock is up by almost 2 points.

We may or may not get the $2k stimulus, but Pelosi, Schumer, and Sanders have done a marvelous job of putting McConnell on the defensive and helping both Georgia Senate candidates.

With the pressure AOC and other progressive democrats were under, to pull shit over M4A, they deserve credit for not falling for it.

Having thought of the poison pills that McConnell wants to add to the stimulus bill, I would recommend the following strategy:

Compromise with McConnell by allowing the voter fraud section while removing the 230 section.
Pass the bill with one of the poison pills.

Then, for the voter fraud investigation:

Be sure to investigate red counties for voter fraud. European vote check groups checked Florida after the Gore-Bush election just like they would a third world country having election issues. What they found is that most of the voter fraud - and by most I mean like 90% - was done for republicans in areas that they had large majorities.

To add to that: investigate and launch lawsuits against state government officials that made it harder to vote. Impeding voting IS vote fraud.

This is exactly the right vehicle and the right time to turn the tables on voter fraud and hold republicans to their stated beliefs.

Mitch McConnell has no intention of passing it, he will put poison pills in that bill and that has to be called out. Also the idea that either Georgia Republican candidate actually supports the 2k stimulus is utterly bogus.
