Yeah i know, i really wonder why blogposts and shitposting is allowed over, any sort of logical response, even if semi-offensive like "What is this stupid ass post" is bannable.
Its why i stopped helping people on the computer part of the forum also, the blogposting even appears in there lately.
Why do lootboxes even need to be banned. Can't people just be responsible for their own, or their kid's, actions.........
Gambling mechanics, where you pay real money for a set of random assortment of in-game goods should be banned, or at the very least, regulated in the same manner gambling already is.
But your idea is just nuts. There is nothing inherently wrong with RNG in video games.
What matters is the legal definition, not the language definition.
And li'l Timmy may very well have stolen his parents credit card for that purpose(or rather, taken it without explicit permission or knowledge). By having these rules in place, the parents then have a legal way to demand payback.
As for "not forced", it's not called gambling addiction for nothing.
I'm sure insulting them will help. Rather than curtailing the behaviour of companies preying on addicts and minors.Next time your friend buys a lootbox or some other P2W shit tell them how subhuman they are and not be like "okay please government do something".
Nuclear weapons for everyone!
(Aside - I don't understand why making lootboxes, or hell even Pokemon/Hearthstone/Magic card packs be 16+ or 18+ would be so horrible. Want your kid to have them? Buy them yourself! Some people on the Internet may as well be arguing "But 10 year olds should be able to buy cigarettes because FREEDOM!"... what happened to pragmatism, common sense, instead of blind ideological fervor?)

Many Multitudes Online Constantly Harping About Minor Problems
FIRE GIVES ME BIGGER BLOOD SHIELDS
Actually, it does change things. Without this, there'd be a lot of legal wrangling over who exactly was responsible for purchase. If the game is 18+, then either it was the parents, or they let their child play something it wasn't supposed to, so they're responsible either way. This actually puts more pressure on the parents, not less.
In the UK gambling laws only apply when you can win money or something easily exchangeable for money. Olst loot boxes do not fall under those laws.
This is different to Belgium which covers games of chance that have prizes with a perceived value.

What does the great vault in WoW have to do with WoW?
The very fact itself of making money from virtual entertainment should not exist at all. If you take any common sense person from any age before modern age will say that the modern age people are all insane. All persons born nowadays with all this technology are thinking is normal to be like this, which is not normal to have a virtual life, even most religions say at the end of times all people in the world will be insane.
Back to the subject you should not even be able to make a living from virtual work, but all companies are making billions if not trillions of euros / dollars in long terms. But for this to exist you must have a very poor quality life to be attracted by a game or tv show in the first place as to take its place and even create enthusiast in the mind of that person. So instead of developing the world itself and create a better quality life, the world leaders want instead to make all low lives even less intelligent then they already are and give them a virtual life where they can create literally everything and sell for how much they want.
Any kind of of gambling and rng should not exist at all in a civilized world, even real life lottery and gambling casinos should be banned completely, not only games mini transactions pay to win until you get your loot. Even if you cut it straight to the subject to just choose the lesser evil, just allow players to hard work and still win exactly what they want in games, not waste their time for a random roll and keep giving you money until they get that item / etc.
Imagine you go to work and when you have to be paid you have a low change to get your salary, a high change of getting nothing, and a zero point something chance you become extremely rich, just to make you return and keep working in case most of the cases yeah you guessed you got nothing.
Indeed OP. I'd argue in wow you pay to play and it's filled with lootboxes in the form of chests and mobs. Too bad it doesn't meet the definition for the industry lootbox because it is gambling to me. Blizz won't share drop% nor lootlists on much because they very much know it's a grey area.

If you knew the candle was fire then the meal was cooked a long time ago.
Although I support this law, how do you enforce it?
It is a F2P game. Anyone can download it.
Do you need some proof to download the game?
Shouldn't anyone who uses a credit card is already 18+ ?
