Yeah like, putting aside mindless bitching. this is a very clear case of Blizzard being open for very real and very much deserved criticism.
Even ignoring how long its taking to get their new patch out, said new patch isn't big enough to warrent the time its taking. Hell, from what we know, they arent even bothering with a raid set which is a first. Its, again from what we know so far, a patch low in content compared to major patches in the past. It'll likley be just under the time it took BfA to do two patches, which included two new zones, a mega dungeon, new side content (warfronts and islands), three raids, and multiple gearsets, and a surprisingly large amount of new storylines, including many that were race specific.
Putting it side by side again:
9.1, 5 months so far, likely 2-3 more to go. So hopefully 7-8 months total.
- One new dungeon (recolored gear).
- One new raid (recolored gear).
- One new zone
- No new old world content.
- Story content based on: covenants, the raid, and the brokers.
- Two new cosmetic gear sets per covenant.
- New mounts.
BfA: 8.1, 8.1.5, 8.2: 10 months.
- One new dungeon (recolor gear)
- Three new raids (two new gearsets)
- Two new zones (one having its own gearset)
- Darkshore revisited (with its own gear)
- Warfront updates
- Major island updates in all three patches
- New story content: war campaign, azshara, mechagon, four heritage quests with gear, unlocking two new allied races, with gear.
- Brawl Guild
- PvP: new arena and updated old battlegrounds
- Pet dungeon
- New time walking with associated rewards
