I just now heard that Matt Gaetz has been using inciting rhetoric and talking about mounting a "REAL COUP"... And now I read that it's not just him doing so within the Repugnant Party.
I'm honestly scared, and I don't even live in the US.

Also it is obvious the Russian troll mill is busy at work once again. There are so many posts all over social media underplaying 1/6 and telling people to wait justice will be served and their best option is to vote on election day. Any criticism of the DOJ is met with "hurr durr Garland just started" as if he needed to be there in order for day to day operations to go forward. The fact the DOJ is literally fighting to prevent the Barr memo from being released speaks volumes about intent. We have a right to the full unredacted Barr memo not to mention the full Mueller report. We shouldn't have to beg for this shit. Oh and there is the whole "Biden is hands off with DOJ because seeking justice is somehow political because of Trump". It is fucking bullshit. POTUS has direct purview over DOJ as it is part of the executive branch and absolutely is allowed to direct and prioritize investigations. It is absolutely fucking mind boggling that Biden didn't know about the Guiliani search warrant. As much as I like Biden this really scares me. What else doesn't he know that he should?

Elected officials are literally calling for executions. They aren't even trying to hide it.
At this point the GQP is a terrorist organization and you should be scared because if what they want for the US happens they WILL be expanding it to other countries. This is not only a national security risk for the US but puts literally the entire rest of the world in danger which scares me. I feel like this is a precursor to an actual world war.
Yeah, she's a joke.
https://twitter.com/MorePerfectUS/st...310832642?s=19Standing next to Republican Sen. John Cornyn, Democratic @SenatorSinema says the filibuster "protects the democracy of our nation."
Cornyn voted to filibuster creating an independent commission to examine the 1/6 attack on our democracy. Sinema didn't vote. https://t.co/zUTE9utzqp
Remember history when we look back and Sinema and Manchin helped kill democracy.
Democrats are the best! I will never ever question a Democrat again. I LOVE the Democrats!
Another plea deal from the Insurrectionists.
Really great news for the entire prosecutorial endeavor. And while some might balk at the potential actual sentence, 1.5 years of your life, in prison, especially in the U.S., is horrible. Would have rather seen 20 of course - but there is so much more to come.Paul Allard Hodgkins, 38, pleaded guilty to one count of obstruction of an official proceeding on Wednesday, while four other charges were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
The agreed-upon statement of offense in the case indicates that Hodgkins entered the U.S. Capitol building with a “dark t-shirt with the word ‘Trump’ in white letters” and “carried a red flag with ‘TRUMP 2020’ in white letters” and took “selfie-style” photos of himself inside the Senate chamber. Under the agreement, Hodgkins admitted that he entered the Capitol building knowing that he wasn’t allowed inside, and that he did so with the intention of obstructing the proceeding inside.
Theoretically, the maximum sentence for the charge is 20 years in prison, but defendants rarely receive the maximum, and Hodgkins (who the government did not allege engaged in any violence) will almost certainly receive a much shorter sentence. The ultimate sentence will be determined by the judge, who will consider Hodgkins’ criminal history and other factors before imposing a sentence.
Judge Moss said that, based on what he knows today, the sentencing recommendation under the guidelines would be between 15 and 21 months in prison.
... Oh Jesus... The more I learn, the less I wish I had. With how the Republicans are acting and their voters beliefs, I wouldn't be surprised if they took it upon themselves to "rid the world of Socialism!" if they got sole power.
That is true, what's going on in the US affects the entire world. They spent 4 years with a wholly incompetent man at the helm, yet he did damages just fine. Even 2-year olds without free access to Internet could imitate T-Rump, in the Swedish countryside (niece) no less.
Then as a convicted felon your vote goes poof for a while and you lose access to legally owning firearms which in the case of these jokers seems a pretty legit win.

The problem for democracies is the more you erode peoples belief that it should be continued the harder and harder it gets to sustain it. For a democracy to work the majority has to want it to work and right now we have about 45% of the country who does not want it to work and I am not sure that's long term survivable for a democracy.
Agreed. The bad news is: Xanzul is basically accurate in his description of the past and present, and his predictions of the future have a decent chance at happening, or at least being very close. Defeating Trump in 2020 was important, but his forces are not done yet. They are going full out to overcome that defeat in 2022 leading up to 2024, and although I don't think it's as guaranteed to happen like Xanzul is talking about, I do think the odds are well over 50%.
The US could very well be in a very bad spot 2 years from now. The 2022 election is around 17 months away.
Yep, and the US under Trump supporters would be a very powerful and vindictive and ruthless country. It would be especially dangerous if the next President were a younger version of Trump, of which there are quite a few contenders. That is true, what's going on in the US affects the entire world. Sorry don't care. We have GQP leadership linked directly with these terrorists. It is literally criminal none of them have been charged. It is time to start pushing the DOJ to do their actual job.

A large number of Q/Trump supporters were openly talking about mass executions to celebrate Trump winning a 2nd term. This needs way, way, way more attention than it is getting.
- - - Updated - - -
Just so people understand while felons lose the right to vote they DO NOT lose the ability to run for office. Even if by some miracle the DOJ gets off their lazy ass and does something about Trump that doesn't mean Trump is gone.

Basically unless GQP leadership is actually charged and put on trial for insurrection and sedition and everything else there is zero hope of passing HR1. Outside of revolution this is our only other option.
I don't really view it in those terms mostly because the US has always been a racist dumpster fire full of social conservatives who have a weak grasp on reality. Its been 1923 Warsaw here for decades.
There are two concerns of course:
1 - They're still our #1 trade partner. I didn't enjoy having to explain to my Magic customers that they have to pay an extra 15% on their cards because Trump is an idiot and started a trade war. (and Hasbro took advantage of it to add their own price hike). Comics were unaffected. This time.
2 - Leaking idiocy. We already had our own meatheads but they've gotten meat-headier over the years. Preston Manning wanted a more conservative party which wasn't a great idea but it managed to get worse when Manning was replaced by Stockwell Day. For our American peers, he's pretty much like Rick Perry. We've yet to find our own Steve King but I'm sure he's out there.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/capitol...injuries-riot/
It's almost been five full months and around 17 Capitol Police officers are still on leave due to injuries sustained during the "friendly tour" of the Capitol Building.
Just a reminder that these were violent, riotous fascists that stormed the Capitol, and that Republicans do not support law enforcement, including the literal very people who kept their asses alive as the mob outside erected gallows and screamed for their blood.
Damage during the riot is estimated at around $1.5 million (which seems rather low to be honest) and now prosecutors are wanting the defendants to pay for it.
What is fascism in your opinion? Describe it to us.
And one more time, the BLM protests caused very little damage nation/worldwide. And intention matters, BLM was protesting extrajudicial killings and institutional racism aka fighting oppression. Your ilk just wanted to overthrow a democratically elected government and murder law makers....while actually murdering police officers.
But again, define fascism for us.
It would also help if you could give a citation for where your definition of fascism comes from.
Do it.
“Do not lose time on daily trivialities. Do not dwell on petty detail. For all of these things melt away and drift apart within the obscure traffic of time. Live well and live broadly. You are alive and living now. Now is the envy of all of the dead.” ~ Emily3, World of Tomorrow
Words to live by.
If you're holding up property damage as a bigger problem than innocent black lives, you're the problem, and you don't have a position worth discussing that isn't fundamentally predicated on hate and racism.

Oh hey, I'll play that game.

Modern Republicans tick off every single one of those 14 points gleefully. Not accidentally, but as deliberate centers of their rhetoric, every one.

Remember how these folks all want to SAVE THE KIDS?
A Trump supporter accused of storming the US Capitol and heckling police officers for "protecting pedophiles" previously served jail time after being convicted in the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl, according to court records reviewed by CNN and lawyers involved in the cases.
Federal prosecutors say Sean McHugh of Auburn, California, fought with police as they fended off the massive mob of Trump supporters outside the Capitol on January 6. During the scuffle, McHugh was recorded by police body-worn cameras heckling the officers with a megaphone.
According to prosecutors' description of the footage, McHugh allegedly shouted, "You guys like protecting pedophiles?" "you're protecting communists," "I'd be shaking in your little s--t boots too," and, "there is a Second Amendment behind us, what are you going to do then?"
His comments about "pedophiles" are particularly striking, considering his criminal history.
McHugh was convicted in 2010 on a state charge of unlawful sex with a minor, according to California court records reviewed by CNN and lawyers involved in McHugh's cases. McHugh was sentenced to 240 days in jail -- though he served less -- and got four years of probation.
Dude, you literally complained about free speech, when people were opposing racists.
Just about everyone can claim the moral high ground.
