I'd like to be below 30 again.

You and me both.
Tomorrow is gonna be great. Instead of my original ride, I’m joining a Rapha group for a 106 mile ride to Cedar Lake, Indiana from Chicago and back. Group rides are fun!

But worth it. With the bike I have, I can finally see how well I can really do on a long distance ride. My last century was on a heavy aluminum hybrid bike; I got a 14.3mph avg and bonked 70 miles in. This time I'll be better prepared, and with a group who can push me to complete it.

Down slightly more. With each number, you give me power!

I’m 60 miles into the ride - I’m in Cedar Point, Indiana - but now it’s solo. Those guys in the group are beasts! They were pulling @ 27-30mph, far above what I can maintain.

But that suits me fine. I like riding solo.

They are fast, but I did keep up at times. I even maintained 30mph on the flats for a bit.
But, my tires blew with 35 miles to go! I hit a pothole and they just exploded. Damn it! I’m at my bike shop getting my bike fixed now.

Lol!
The kicker is the insurance. I have bike insurance that has roadside assistance. I spent an hour on the phone only to find that because of Lollapalooza going on in Chicago, no tow companies would take me into the city to get me home. They suggested I wait until Monday, and I exploded on the phone. What, was I gonna walk the 35 miles back home, carrying my bike on my back? Or was I gonna sleep at the corner of the road for two days until someone could take me home? I ended up spending $130 on an Uber to get me to my bike shop where they fixed my tires.
