Reminds me a lot of the concerted attack on Howard Stern and shock radio back in the 80-90's.
It was basically just a bunch of religious groups sending form letters that got a bunch of pols to listen and use it to fundraise from those same religious groups.

It basically drove radio to bankruptcy when they could have evolved, enhanced and developed into what is now streaming/satellite services.

Its amazing how much power we give the "moral majority" when its no where near a majority anymore (nor was it really ever)
