I have never in my life ever seen a moral panic not turn into a slippery slope. If you give the kind of person who lobbies for changes that offend them at no point will they stop till they are actually met with hard resistance.

As for the rest of what you're saying, color me not-at-all-surprised that the "WELL THEN WHY NOT SCORCH THE EARTH OF EVERYTHING" nuclear argument is the automatic go-to for something, anything, that could be considered at all sensitive, divisive, or evocative. As if it's not at all possible for there to be any nuance or semblance of critical thinking involved in finding a middle between these two extremes of being an overly sensitive Twit that's ready to cancel anything that moves, and being a numbskulled hardass who sees anything less than 100% tolerance of anything short of actual bold-faced, unabashed racism (and sometimes not even that) as weakness, being a snowflake, or having a mental illness.

Imagine the pressure of every brand, company, business owner or whatever that are public.
