    Blizzards biggest miss in Shadowlands

Was not adding a player silhouette reaching up to the loading screen when you jump into the Maw. Something like this:

This horrific place houses the most vile and irredeemable souls in existence. Ruled by the enigmatic Jailer, the Maw inspires nightmares and legends even among the denizens of the Shadowlands. No one has ever escaped this vile place, and any foolish enough to venture here are never heard from again.

It's still hilarious that everybody fears the Maw and even Vol'jin's spirit is affraid of staying there, yet we (and the covenants) travel there so often, it's more active than the Dalaran flight master..

I mean it is lore that we are special and can come and go as we please but everyone else just gets stuck there

Would actually pretty easy for Blizzard to pull off. Have it so that when you log out of your character and your armory profile is updated, Blizzard takes a screenshot of your character model posed in a certain way, and then inserts that onto the loading screen in the falling position.

No I think their biggest miss was not adding content for 7+ months after the expansions release.

Yeah the 'No one escapes the Maw' after escape #47 is pretty annoying.

I think one of the bigger missteps in Shadowlands is taking those shitty fill the bar to 100% at 3% per kill that everyone hated in WoD and stuck them fucking everywhere. Bag of shit.

Oh my gosh, you are so right! I detested those slow-filling kill bars when I was still playing.
No longer playing World of Warcraft. Just watching the house burn down.

and then releasing a half-assed, small patch with a tiny, ugly zone with 2 weeks worth of meaningful content

We're not denizens of the Shadowlands, or disembodied souls. The Maw doesn't affect living people the way it affects souls and denizens of the Shadowlands.

And by the time the Covenants attack it, the reason it was so feared has become rather obsolete.

i feel like a blind hater saying this but it's also fair criticism.

the list of characters who've left the maw ( a ? indicates they at least had contact with people in the maw but likely have been inside it):

    every single mawsworn
    zovaal
    sylvanas
    the primus
    tyrande
    anduin
    denathrius(?)
    dreadlords(?)
meuh'zala (he brought the eye of odin to the jailer)
and literally everyone from this point on who feels like it because there is a korthian waystone that the covenants use to move armies in and out at will

so much for the maw being inescapable...

so that's why jaina, thrall, baine, and anduin got out of the maw just fine when we first got dumped there in that annoyingly long intro to shadowlands? if you're going to defend trash, please at least know what you're talking about first.

Jaina, Thrall, Baine and Anduin got captured and repeatedly tortured in Torghast. Jaina also escaped alone, and/or with Thrall, and would get overwhelmed by numbers and captured again. We (the player character) arrived into the Maw by our own accord along with a contingent of Knight of Ebon Blade soldiers which helped tip the scales long enough.

It's stated that we are special, and the teleporter reacts to *US*, not living people in general. The Jailer is confused why it's reacting to a mortal, meaning he hasn't seen it before (He wouldn't bother commenting if the other living people activated it), and I think it's Jaina specifically says it's reacting to us. Hell, in the Korthia questline it's stated *AGAIN*, and one of the attendants almost kills us trying to find out how our soul is special

They quite literally don't, only your character does. Jaina, Thrall and Baine don't get out until we come back and bind their souls to us, and even then, they're just piggybacking on us. They cannot leave of their own accord. Sounds like you didn't pay much attention during the intro.

By the time the Covenants make their assault, the Winter Queen has had opportunity to modify the barrier.

Plot twist: The real Jaina is still in the Maw and a Dreadlord took her place!

I think you're not quite getting it. it is inescapable; for souls that are sent there. everyone else you mentioned is either mortal, immortal or working for the Jailer so of course they could come and go

Their biggest mistake was the entirety of the underpinning lore. This expac could have come out on a rigid 11 week patch cadence and it still would have been shitty story and world-building.

Mawsworn I feel with them being Kyrian they just have the ability to go between them anyway with the added bonus of being able to fly in and out of the Maw at will

Zovaal..the entire raid was LITERALLY him getting out of the Maw he probably has added restraints to keep him in the maw without the bullshit we had to pull in said raid.

Sylvanas Likely relys on the Mawsworn to move between realms. During the pre expansion event they were literally pulling souls from the maw to the mortal realm.

Primus we had to escort out

Tyrande was an opportunist from an open portal via the Mawsworn..she was essentially lucky

Anduin never "Escaped" so I imagine he was just escorted into Bastion with a Mawsworn

Denatrius we have no confirmation he ever WENT to the maw and if the Mawsworn can allow people in and out with the jailers will he can too.

    Same with the Dreadlords

Same with Muzella its not far off that he gave the eye to a Mawsworn Angel or something and never went in the maw in exchange for favor.

and the last one with us being a waypoint allows them to come and go..not far off considering how much we go between the maw and how easy it is for us.

Nah the biggest miss is allowing Danuser to stay at Blizzard.
