FOMO: "Fear Of Missing Out", also commonly known as people with a mental issue of managing time and activities, many expecting others to fit into their schedule so they don't miss out on things to come. If FOMO becomes a problem for you, do seek help, it can be a very unhealthy lifestyle..
No thanks. Of the two, I prefer the vault. Fuck rerolling for another handful of gold.
Imagine getting 5 pieces of tier in 3 weeks of vault opening
That being said, there's one thing I'd like to change on the vault for the next expansion. That is consolation tokens to be used to reroll a specific slot in your vault.
Say you use one on your raid slot (1 of the 3), you can choose a boss from which you want to have a (still random) piece and on your m+ slot, you can choose a dungeon.
However you won't be able to reroll all the slots of the row to the same boss/dungeon but rather 1 slot per row per week.
Agree. Nothing felt more pointless than bonus rolls. A roll on an RNG chance for an RNG loot item. At least with the GV I'm guaranteed an item in the slot so there's only RNG on the item.
I remember one week of using 12 bonus rolls and getting all gold. That's better than GV?
Get rid of GV!!! Yes!!!
Bring back bonus rolls? Hell no.
These free loot systems needs to go! Make loot important again, let's break the habit of ppl logging in one or two days a week.
Imagine having to complete a dungeon or kill a boss to possibly get loot in a mmorpg.
Crazy idea ... add this currency that is rewarded at the end of the week that allows you to buy tokens for a slot that are turned into a random item in that slot.
But then how we'll have no treadmill left and gearing goals will be more achievable.
The details of cost, ilvl and cap can be sorted out.
Or and hear me out here, have bosses drop loot again so it feels like you did something after killing a boss. Not seeing Loot drop from a boss even if its not for you makes it feel pointless in general. Tier sets is a huge step in the right direction, but they need to keep reverting basically back to Wrath/ CATA for loot to feel right again. Master Looter needs to be a thing again as well.
Great vault would be good, if it didn’t use Blizzard random number generator(tm). I get, that random is random, but 3 trash tier trinkets in the pvp row 2 consecutive weeks will suck any will to play from you
I mean... you don't have to imagine. Because that is the system right now. You have to complete a dungeon or kill a raid boss to get loot in WoW. Without completing a dungeon or killing raid bosses... you get zero loot from the Great Vault.

Huge "nope" on that one. Getting rid of Master Looter was what made me participate in PuGs again, because now I don't have to worry about "item X being reserved" or "we'll do loot council and totally do not favor our own guildmates over you lowly pugs".
The only thing i would like to be added to GV is what they originaly intended for the M+ slots. The more you run a specific dungeon on a given week the higher the chances you see something on GV from that dungeon.
For exemple you run 8 DOS in a week + 3 random ones, you are pretty much garannteed to have 1 or 2 items from DOS loot table in GV.
What would really help would be that they changed the items in dungeons with every season, so you're not farming the same items again and again over the course of an expansion.
I think some version of this would be great.
There are way too many items dropping from dungeons.
I'd make it so you only get loot in the GV from dungeons that you actually did that week (with no weights unlike your idea).
This would mean you can target a handful or even just one dungeon if you really want an item (khm, looking at DoS for tanks).
Obviously, for SL this is not a viable change anymore as dungeon drops weren't balanced around this system.
They would need to spread drops more thoughtfully throughout the dungeons for this to work. I legit have no need for any items from Sanguine Depths on my mage. Like, the stats are all wrong.
Raids are much more condensed with much less drops so it's not needed for that, plus u dont get increased ilvl in vault anyway.
Not only there are many more people to trade u gear, it is easier to target gear and unlocking the full raid page is like an afternoon.
Between the two, bonus rolls are definitely better than the GV. At least with bonus rolls, I have a chance to target the loot I want. GV on the other hand gives you no real way to target loot, especially on those weeks when your GV gives you 8 different kinds of belts (despite assurances from Blizz that wouldn't happen). But even then, bonus rolls are really just another way to throw a quarter into a slot machine that may or may not give anything.
At this point, I can't help but wonder why Valor Points or Badges wouldn't be the better option. You still have to do the content to earn them, you can actually buy the item you want after some gathering, and they give a great incentive to run Normal/Heroic dungeons as well (thus helping to have a good pool of players for that content). With them, WoW wouldn't be as much of a loot casino as it is now. WoW IMO needs less forced RNG, not more.
