Thread: 2022 Midterms

I've read posts on Twitter that say Abbott will win by more than DeSantis.

Except Abbott is NOWHERE NEAR as popular as DeSantis. Abbott only gets votes because a lot of people here won't vote for a Democrat, no matter what, while DeSantis is the next big Republican star.

DeSantis and Lake are more than likely the future of the Republican Party.

In a perfect slightly less utterly horrifying world, saying shit like this would be an instant disqualification from any election. If you don't know simple facts about the country, why should you be entrusted with aspects of its governance.

Or, to simply ask them: "Ok, fucker, who do you think the KKK are voting for today?" And see them flail as they desperately try to pretend that it isn't their own party.

I mean, you don't even need to do that. It's Republicans and "independent" conservatives running around with confederate flags.

Things obviously narrow as the election gets closer, but this is another seat (like AZ) that was thought to be relatively safe that could now be a tossup. Wave incoming?

    https://www.vice.com/en/article/m7gk...-pelosi-attack

The man who attacked Paul Pelosi has been identified, you can find his name in the article if you want. VICE tracked down what appears to be multiple blogs that he had written over the years.

VICE News found two online blogs under *snips* name, “The Loving God” and “Frenly Frens.” One of them, which was updated the night before the attack and frequently over the last months, features a wide range of topics including “pedogate, “great reset,” “voter fraud,” “da jewbs,” and “Covid.” Many of the tags referred to women including one directly about Amber Heard—the target of many misogynistic attacks stemming from her lawsuit with Johnny Depp.

Recent headlines on “Frenly Frens” include “It’s OK to be White,” “Faking of Adolf Hitler for History,” and “Q.” The posts go on long diatribes against women, Jewish people, and Black people. One recent post referred to the Holocaust as a “hoax.” The writings also touch on popular far-right culture war topics, like “drag queen story hours,” “cultural marxism,” and child “grooming.”

Yet another post references frequent visits and posts to the /pol/ board of 4chan, an infamous board for racism and bigotry).

    ...

Posts from this year, however, have a drastically different tone, touching on QAnon, Pizzagate, and other far-right conspiracies. The final post on the blog didn’t promise violence but was a link to a YouTube video about “Why Colleges are becoming Cults.”
So another right wing extremist, how shocking. Man, Republicans really need to stop promoting and validating this kind of shit that makes these conspiracy theorist nutters feel confident enough to do something stupid like this.

The response on Fox News to this attack has been more abhorrent than their usual bullshit, honestly. A blend of victim blaming, self-victemhood, sea lioning and just having a chuckle about it. Though my favorite bits - read: most frustrating - have been the pearl clutching about 'W-we can't politisize this attack!' and 'Well we don't know his -real- motives~' bullshit.

Honestly all the clips I've seen have just been doubling down on downplaying it. 'People get hit with hammers all the time, this is likely totally random!'

Since no fox news personalities post on MMO champ I probably won't get infracted when I say they're a bunch of evil goblins and can kiss my ass.

Fox News right now: "Lots of people get hit by hammers!" and "This was a total random act of violence!" and "But people are released on bail all the time!"

Absolute fuckin ghouls of the highest order.

They're sweating bullets hoping everyone has forgotten this from last year:

"McCarthy slammed for joking 'it would be hard not to hit' Pelosi with a gavel" (August, 2021)
Democrats blasted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy for saying “it will be hard to not hit” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi with a gavel if he becomes speaker.

McCarthy, R-Calif., made the comments Saturday night at a Tennessee Republican Party fundraiser, where he was handed an oversized gavel by members of the state's Republican members of Congress.

“I want you to watch Nancy Pelosi hand me that gavel. ... It’ll be hard not to hit her with it," he said, according to audio posted on Twitter by Main Street Nashville.

A spokesman for McCarthy said he was “obviously joking.”
"In today’s America, conservatives who actually want to conserve are as rare as liberals who actually want to liberate. The once-significant language of an earlier era has had the meaning sucked right out of it, the better to serve as camouflage for a kleptocratic feeding frenzy in which both establishment parties participate with equal abandon" (Taking a break from the criminal, incompetent liars at the NSA, to bring you the above political observation, from The Archdruid Report.)

Apparently he's a member of the green party, nudist activist, hemp jewelry maker, and he writes a blog about the ruling class/elites.

    source https://archive.ph/2022.10.28-234405...photo-23098482

Doesn't exactly fit the bill for a right wing trumper, but don't let the lamestream media or their lemmings on the forums tell you any differently.

the guys been a crank since 2008 but his blog explicitly states he got into rightwing politics via gamergate then continuted to post far-right conspiracy theories, racism, and sexism until he got pinched for this attack.

He did the far right pepe frens baby talk, Qanon, Pizzagate and called the holocaust a hoax. Not to mention the more mainstream 'college campuses are becoming woke cults'

Im sure you think he just picked pelosi randomly and she isn't a main character in rightwing republican conspiracy politics

    From your own fucking source:
    4.
He kept a blog with screeds about “the ruling class,” right-wing conspiracy theories and racial slurs . “The elites/ruling class never censor themselves,”DePape wrote in a WordPress blog he apparently maintained and kept updating through August 28 — the date of the last post. With the domain “ godisloving.wordpress.com ” and banner “Welcome to Big Brothers Censorship Hell,” the blog, which lists DePape as an author, is larded with conspiracy theories about elites — including government officials, tech companies and media outlets — who he accuses of censorship.

It features a series of entries with headlines that invoke conservative beliefs or conspiracy theories promoted in far-right circles. On Aug. 25, DePape created posts with such headlines as “Communist Voodoo science” and “Feminist gets owned.” A post on Aug. 25 titled “The woke are Racists with a guilty conscience” has no text or links in the body.

Another post on Aug. 24 titled “Q” refers to a far-right Q-Anon theory with images of convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein. A post published the same day includes a meme that states “Give us your children to indoctrinate into our satanic pedophile communist cult.”
The blog is laden with bigoted and derogatory statements against immigrants, people of color, women, LGBTQ people and Muslims.
And I'm sure there are no shortage of clips out there of Tucker Carlson railing against "the ruling class/elites"...which is mostly just a thinly veiled euphemism for "the Jews" among right-wing shitheels.

How predictably dishonest. I don't know why y'all feel so compelled to lie about shit that's so easy to debunk from your own fucking link, lol.

I'm looking at the numbers on TargetEarly, and while Democrat numbers haven't dropped significantly in some counties, Republican numbers have.

    Dallas County:
    https://targetearly.targetsmart.com/...iew_type=state
    (60.6%-28.5% vs. 55.5%-36.2%).
    Harris County:
    https://targetearly.targetsmart.com/...iew_type=state
    (47.7%-38.5% vs. 46.1%-46.7%).
    Yay?
    Unless I'm reading it wrong.
