Threads of Fate should be an automatic 20% XP buff after your first character hits level 70 not something useless you can apply after finishing the MSQ.

No it shouldn't
Would be interesting to know what the average leveling time would look like the 2nd time around.
I won't level an alt until I have all factions at least at renown 10 so I don't feel like I am wasting rep gains on some of these alts (especially since I want to focus more on professions and recipes are locked behind rep it seems).
So far however it seems like the leveling process is a lot faster than how it was compared to SL, even the first leveling felt super fast. If it's something the average player can just do in a couple of hours now, I don't see a reason for an extra xp boost. Leveling shouldn't take ages (felt like that in SL), but it also shouldn't be too fast either. If it's somewhere in the 5-7 hours range (60-70) on average I am completely fine with it.
Also, more of a nitpick, but it's now called Adventure Mode and not Threads of Fate. And what should MSQ even mean? Sounds like something from FFXIV.

It's already faster than shadowlands and bfa leveling, stop being an entitled twat.
Alt leveling is faster, but not hugely. You have access to World Quests which can be quick exp and fully unlocked Dragonriding (providing you've collected all the glyphs), but predominately you're still doing the Campaign just with better flying. You can also then craft from 68-70 with some gold investment which is incredibly fast.
I did my first alt in about 6 hours compared to around 10 for the main and I know that's by no means "fast" by some people's standards.
