2023: What political party are you?

Which political party are you and why what is your experience?

Democrat since I was in middle school. First time I voted was 1996

Mostly voted Democrat, Voted for Ventura for Governor who was an Independent.

The reason I'm Democrat is because I do believe in the community as a whole being the most important in terms of prosperity for everyone. At least our best chance at it. I am liberal also but probably a liberal slightly more than a Democrat ideologically.

Those of you not in the U.S please type your political party.

    You just did.

You don’t have to belong to a party at all. So no vote represents that.

One of my closest friends for 30 years has never joined a party.

According to him it defeats the purpose of democracy and leads to corruption.

I don’t agree but he always votes and does so based on the issues.

Politically based on our conversations he leans right. Less government lower taxes and less regulations in everything.

Identifying with a party is a fool's errand in the first place. It means you value membership over policy, belonging over thinking, appearance over substance. Unless you yourself are literally running for office as a member of that party, you have no reason to identify yourself with any given party at all. It's just an excuse to shut your brain off and pretend that politics is just a meaningless team sport, rather than an incredibly complex and impactful system which deserves your attention and consideration.

I selected Democrat but registered Independent and honestly don't even care for the Democrats that much, they are just infinitely superior to the Republicans from a policy standpoint.

Went with Democrat since that's who I vote for, but I'm not a registered party member, and ideologically I'm closer to what Green is supposed to be, probably?

Green is my closest political affiliation, but as Endus said, being for a "party" means you get into senseless mindsets to simp for your party. I'll vote for whatever US party is against the slow march of the fascistic right, which basically means I'm voting Democrat for life.

None of them. Republicans don't know what they want as a party and Democrats are too weak willed to do anything of importance and scared to change things. Both liberals and conservatives are different sides of a shitty coin. the left is also very sensitive and force their beliefs on people and cancel you if you don't follow along with them while the right will accuse you of treachery for not standing with them and label you as an enemy.

why be associated with any of those clowns?? oh and the green party is just the left in disguise same with libertarian.

I'd be something like Green/Left Party (in Finland) if most of them weren't fucking retarded. I often daydream about forming my own green center-left party.

What about on your local level, say things like School boards to City all the way up to state level?

Are there any alternative candidates, any you would actively campaign for?

The reason I say this is because I think that is where it has to start. Maybe even run yourself.

Right now more of the extreme levels on the right are working on more local levels, if you were to Green that could be a great way to start.

What about the green party do you most identify with?

Pretty interesting, kind of interested in a break down or example of what you mean about each, also curious what are the most important core ideals you feel the strongest about?

What would that look like and how would that contrast with what you see so wrong with other parties.

My personal experience is that is is impossible to find any group that is totally in lock step uniformly from the top down. I don't think most Monolith really exist in that way.

That's why I think it's more important to priorities and I think it's also super important to consider all factors before committing to ANY group what so ever.

Well said. You hit the nail on the head with people acting like it is a team sport. I don't care what a person has next to their name, I just want someone who is a good human being who is in it for the people they represents and not to enrich their own pockets. Someone who is there that wants to make ALL the people they represents lives better.

I am an independent with strong anti-republican leanings.

I'd vote socialist if it were not heretical in the states and a real party formed.

At the local level I vote Democrat but nothing I would campaign for ever hits my radar locally. I live in North Carolina and my last election was literally election deniers versus rationality.

As far as campaigning myself, my families history would give the opposition research a field day. And I have enough going on in my life between my own medical issues dealing with the VA, my dad who is on a walker and helping nephews with school and all, that kinda time and focus isn’t something I would have even if I won.

Wait, you mean officially registered with?
Cause if so then I'd be a none. I put democrat since that who I tend to vote for most the time.

Puts communist party in OP...doesn't put them as an option nor independent/no affiliation.

There isn't a single party that represents me...but as long as it's FPTP in the USA I'll always vote for democrats down the ticket.

Only the green party out of the options exist in my country. I'm not green(which I hate), nor any of the other options. I voted for a social democratic party last election in the parliamentary and local elections, regional elections I voted for a socialist party.
