    Should Weath Be Redistributed?

Do you think we should redistribute the wealth of rich people who have worked so hard to get where they are?

    Why or Why not?

In my opinion, innovation does not come from slacking and waiting around for government hand outs, it comes from honest, efficient, hard working people that bring something different to the table.

    What about you?

    He's giving his opinion?

"Should wealth be redistributed?" Yes, No.

    Doesn't sound biased to me.

OT: I'm greedy and lazy. Sure.

The only time I could possibly get behind this idea would be upon a persons death. Especially if they have parasitic offspring that haven't contributed anything to the accumulation of the wealth in the first place. Maybe allow them to retain a percentage depending on the amount of wealth the deceased had. Possibly.

I think if they even tried mentioning redistribution of wealth you would see every rich person in the US take out everything they had and leave the country. Bill Gates would buy a country and make it his new estate.

Given the amount of his money he gives away I doubt he'd want to.

Yes. We need to be able to reset.

thats pretty funny considering bill gates "redistributes" much of his own wealth because he has little need for it.

Bill Gates has used his wealth in many different organizations to help better others, and If i remember correctly upon his passing, most of his wealth will be distributed among his choice of charities, with a small percentage reserved for his family. Does not get any more noble then that.

    No, it's called communism.

Lets count all the successful communist nations who have stuck with the original principles:

    Cuba... Lolwait.
China? Nah they've strayed from the original and have heavy capitalist influences, sorry, no dice.
Soviet Union? Doesn't exist any more.
    Cambodia? Khmer Rough was wrecked.

Yeah, it doesn't work, it causes problems. System is better as it is.

    Biased much?

Problem is, not all wealthy people worked as hard for it as you think. They were just in fortunate circumstances, had family wealth to support their empires, got lucky... not all of it was earned through the hardest of work.

I could think of a lot of people in various careers earning not much above minimum wage who I'd bet work a hell of a lot harder than many CEOs and whatnot. And it's not always work just "anyone" can do.

On that note: I sort of think it should be "redistributed." But not directly. I don't believe wealthy people should get tax breaks. Let's look at the big picture: if the top 5% of wealthy Americans paid just slightly more taxes, the rest of the population would have to pay NO taxes, and the government would have MORE income to work with. And starting with that, we could greatly reduce poverty, as smaller businesses could afford to pay their employees more, or hire more employees, reduce joblessness, offer better unemployment to those actively looking for work. Reduce poverty = reduced crime. Reduced crime = better country to live in.

Let's just say this: if most of our wealth wasn't in the hands of the top few, and rather other people who work their asses off got paid more appropriately for their work, we'd have a much better country overall.

People should get paid based on how hard they work, not their fortunate circumstances that most of us have no control over.

Like those millionaires who do nothing but sit on their mighty thrones all day long, who never had to move a finger to earn their fortune because they got it from their parents or from the lottery, counting how many yachts they own, while advocating that the capitalist system is the best that could exist while messing around with the economy through careless speculation and without giving a damn about how many people could lose their jobs due to that?

    Alright.

    Yay for communism.

Communism looks great on paper; it never works out though.

If everyone in a society put forth the same effort and had the same 'reward' for their effort and there was no human flaws present such as greed, this would work great.

    It will never happen.

No. We should have a safety net, but individuals who succeed should not be forced to support those who have not.

I'd only ask for 4-5k then I'd be set. I wouldn't mind redistribution, so long as it is only "chump change" to them.

What do you think a safety net is?

We all know communism is bad. Because communism gives money to all people indiscriminately. System is not fine as it is, but obviously we're better than communism.

I propose people get paid based on how hard they work. There are a lot of people who don't work that hard and are rich, and those who work harder than anyone else and are poor. Money should be distributed on a merit-based system. Earn your money.
