Avoid Hearthstone, P2W and too much RNG are making it the most frustrating game I've ever played.
It seems that you don't have a lot of time to play, so you could try league of legends (or any MOBA out there) or FPS for fast games
One game I just returned to is Orcs Must Die! 2.
You might have already played it, you might not, but I suggest it because it's a fun game with a lot of humour and really satisfying Orc slaughter.
It's a third person action tower defense-like game where you place traps and tries to create choke point to mass slaughter the Orcs before they reach the rift. It got a pretty decent story, and a lot of replay value.
If not the OP, I suggest everyone checking this thread to check the game out.
Find some old but very good solo game. Then find a good mods for this game.
Vola...you just saved money and you have fun.
I recomend: (or skyrim)

Don't sweat the details!!!
Play some rpg's. Skyrim, fallouts etc
Think i had like 200 hours on my main character and about 120 on my other character in fallout 3, before i sold my xbox360. If you are going to play them, i just got one advice for you. Dont rush it, take your time to enjoy the scenery etc, story, quests etc
Get addicted to Monster Hunter. I have let me wow sub drop quite a few times between Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. I've dumped 660 hours into MH3U then went back and bought MHFU but am only 115 hours into it. MH4U should be coming out early next year and I'm really looking forward to the new weapons and mechanics.
Sadly, it's hard to find games that offer a lot of play time like Monster Hunter or The Elder Scrolls.
Play some Dark Souls 2... Lots of good, challenging fun to be had there!
If you want another timesink and are not scared of a (very) steep learing curve, try Dota 2 (or one of the other dota clones, but dota 2 is the best one imo).
Once you learn the basics, which can unfortunately take quite a while if you never played a MOBA before, it is incredibly fun and refreshing, because every game is different and rewards good plays and right decisions.
In the end the winner is still the last man standing.
You could always download an emulator and play Chrono Trigger, any of the old Final Fantasy games, or other console games you may no longer be able to purchase.
Diablo 3. I enjoyed the game before patch 2.0 but now it's really great. Super excited about the expansion in 3 days. Hearthstone is also really fun and addictive. I play tons of stuff though when I get burnt on WoW. Have hundreds of hours in Borderlands 2 and tons of time in some others.

“Snow can only live in the winter. When it nears a fire, it dies. That is its life. It may yearn for summer, but… it can only desire it. In my hand, the snow becomes water, because this is not its world….”“The boundless Heavens and Earth are the final resting place of all living things. Life is like a journey, filled with various scenery, various paths.
I'm playing through Farcy 3 at the moment. I bought it months ago during a Steam sale, only started it last week and it's a nice break from WOW. Also play Hearthstone and D3 from time to time however they seem to make me want to play WOW. Also played through Dead Space 3 from one of those Humble Bundle sales.
Honestly, check out steam sales, pick something up for $10 (or less) and have fun... although that can be like crack also. I seem to accrue games on steam faster than I play them (because WOW takes up so much time).
Smite, excellent MOBA and most "different" from the gendra (wich I hate, but i love smite. I'm crazy)
DIII, 2.0 is just phenomenal. RoS will probably beat DII LOD in my heart. How a mediocre game turned amazingly good.
Sorry to say that, but maybe the problem isn't a game.
I hadn't spend a penny and I'm doing quite well, I guess. You get tons of free gold from defeating AI, you can get a bit of interesting cards - don't like them? DE and craft interesting ones, read a lot, watch a lot. Like every competitive game, requires dedication to excel at.
Buying all MTG boosters won't make me a pro, why HS would?
That being said, I wholeheartedly recommend Hearthstone, very enjoyable!
Could try rust. It is an absolutely amazing game but you need to find a solid player ran server, as the official ones dont have manymods at all as the games still in alpha. This means that exploiters are all over the place, which is what the devs want to happen.
Halo is my go to game when I tire of this genre, which is often, but obviously only you can know what your game preferences are.
If you haven't played the new Tomb Raider id recommend it. I had loads of fun playing it.
But to be fair you should specify bit more, or open in all genres is good as well.
I was stuck on WoW for a long period transitioning into DotA2. Now I play WoW very rarely and probably wont play it until WoD too much unless my main crew goes back online and wants to do RBGs or Arenas or something. Currently i play Dota2 pretty much but it gets tedious alone and requires about 300+h to get decent at if you never touched a moba before.
So after I didnt feel like playing dota2 alone (and if you have no one to teach you basics of dota2 i wouldnt recommend) I played Tomb Raider, had fun. Then played Darksiders 2, was pretty decent spectacle fighter, graphics werent that great but whatever, after that I played Darkness 2, a run of the mill FPS with some fun elements in your powers, also quite easy so didnt have much at all trouble playing on hardest difficulty.
Other pretty fun games I could suggest are some quick games like Deadlight (~3-4h), Thomas Was Alone (~3-4h), Hotline Miami (~2-3h), "short-ish" Mark of the Ninja (~7h). I would have tons of games to suggest if you havent played some bit older games. I definitely recommend Mark of the Ninja though & Shank 1&2 for that matter.
I haven't played myself but only heard good things about Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.
If you I'd suggest Amnesia: Dark Descent & Outlast for horror if you like the genre and for whatever reason havent played those in that case.
BTW a good place to check game length averages is howlongtobeat.com
But yeah. If you want a specific genre or just some shorter indie games I'll try to check this topic and post suggestions.
