Why aren't olympians bad losers?

I dont get it when they miss out on the medal they are still so happy...

If it was me i would be calling the winner a cheat and a drug user and everything.

Im a bad loser on little things I just dont like losing but love winning.

Why aren't olympians like this? They are always so nice on the tv to everyone and like ' i didnt get a medal but congratulations'.

There should be at least 1 or 2 who say 'yeah well we know that mofo is on drugs and that he cheats all the time'.

Seems like what you are describing happens a LOT. Especially in more of the subjective games like gymnastics and figure skating. People are always crying foul.

Also, i would imagine most people are just totally stoked out their behinds to be there in the first place.

I would think it's because they want to obtain sponsors. Looking like a douche won't attract customers to those labeled on your clothes exactly... They also learned good sportmanship after being within the whole sports thing for a while.

Because even if you dont win a medal just being in the olympics means you must be pretty darn amazing at whatever your sport is.

Because they are not self absorbed Call of Duty* Nerd Ragers.
They are sportsmen and women, and they know that no matter what happens, it is a privilege and an honor to be invited to go to the Olympics. Any fowl behavior on their part would reflect badly on themselves, there team, and there country.

*Note, I was playing COD a few mins before writing this post, which is why I chose the game over any of the 100's of others where people nerd rage.

Olympians and many athletes are taught to not be sore losers, and to focus on their faults...which ultimately makes them better athletes.

One of the first character traits you learn as an athlete is to win and lose with grace. Don't be an insufferable douche when you win and don't throw a temper tantrum when you lose. Also just to medal in the Olympics is a feat. As a matter of fact just qualifying to compete in the Olympics is extraordinary. I'm sure many of these athletes (sans Usain Bolt, anyway) are absolutely thrilled they will be known for the rest of their lives as Olympians.

Well, losing for one. Knowing that you're worse than someone sucks.

My guess is that they know that half the world is watching them, so they do their bickering and raging when the cameras are off them.

Because the entire world is watching - if they act like bad losers it will be all over the media and they will be seen as a national shame.

there are MANY MANY sore losers at the Olympics, especially this one.

Watching it Live with housemates there has been quite a few times were we have said "Wow he/she is being a pretty sore loser"

Because being at the olympics means they're the best athletes in the world. They're part of great thing and they have no need to be bad losers, everyone respects one another in the olympics.

Because they have experience in many matches and knwo you don't always win.
You also have a very adolescent attitude.
