So the next set is Throne of Eldraine, a mix of English and Germanic fairy tales like King Arthur and Goldilocks. There's a new mechanic that comes with a new frame like the sagas but no idea what it is yet.
Well... Hogaak and Faithless Looting are banned and Stoneforge Mystic is back and 70 fucking dollars.

They made a few changes, mostly good. Though the always available best-of-one won't progress daily and weekly wins now, just quests, you can still do that during events. But more importantly 1-1 wildcard exchange and you'll be able to buy any size bundle from the shop aside from just the $50 one.
While I haven't been able to play Arena in months it's good that they are fixing some of the things about historic. I like the idea of introducing older sets to Arena and give this its own sort of Modern format, but a lot of that was just unnecessary towards getting into it.

Field of the Dead is banned in standard and Wizards announces a new "postmodern" format starting from RTR forwards.
T3feri and Sphinx's revelations in the same deck? Sheesh.
- Christopher HitchensPopulists (and "national socialists") look at the supposedly secret deals that run the world "behind the scenes". Child's play. Except that childishness is sinister in adults.

Oh no, there goes Tokyo! Go, go, Godzilla!
Cool, I will be looking to get back into mtg once things open up and I can play socially with friends again. I've removed myself off from the online scene this past year as it became to hard to avoid all the politics invading the game.
I was never much of a Boros player, because Radiance and Battalion sucked.
That said, I am enjoying Lorehold in Strixhaven a fair bit. Historically I never do well playing aggro white and red decks. But I dig this Lorehold.
I don't play Brawl/EDH/Commander much and when I do it's casually. However, I do see a lot of Velomachus played on the newer Boros/Lorehold style decks. But even in just standard/modern play, I enjoy having an option rather than the all-out play of Boros. I really struggle playing that guild/college archetype ordinarily.
The Dungeons & Dragons expansion is fucking great! I love these cards.
I like seeing all the items, classes, and stuff and what kind of flavor they came up with. But I don't really recognize any of the specific characters. Cards like Long Rest are really cool, just showing specific actions taken during a game. Sleeping multiple days to recover health is definitely a feeling. Magic Missile not being able to be countered makes sense since it doesn't required a ranged attack roll, it just hits. Mordenkainen is kind of hilarious. Portable Hole as an offensive item. The Class cards are cool, a new version of Level Up. I think the Monk one is the weakest though. The Tarrasque is justifiably insane, though I'm sad it's not a Beast. Though why is a half-elf monk a 1/4? Monks are agile, but have low health and hit hard. Owlbears are a staple D&D creature, but the Magic one feels too strong.
I enjoy the dungeon-delving mechanic and the class cards a lot. I forgot what block it was that introduced parties, but those always sorta sucked to me. This D&D set makes some of those older cards more attractive. I also enjoy the class cards- Rogue and Cleric are just right.
Having a lot of fun with this set. Half the cards I pull are bangers and set off many ideas between M21 and Strixhaven.
Oh yea, I kinda like Zendikar too. But I didn't like the return to the plane last time so much. Kinda meh. I think that's when they had the Dirge Bat mutate thing too. Which was annoying.
