I drew all of those cards in the first two turns. I throw down Axe of Despair, United We Stand, and Mage Power immediately (giving him a total of 5400 immediately) and there's nothing the opponent can really do. It was a perfect storm, really.

Final countdown goes to the grave as soon as it's played. So destroying it wouldn't really do anything unless you had a trap ready to go as soon as it was played, which you may have at the time but sometimes you just dont. Of course he had a mystical space typhoon (not sure if he had a heavy storm) but he probably didn't have it at the time.

In Nightmare Troubador I haven't found FC to be that much of a problem. Never gone against Destiny Board which is probably because no designer was stupid enough to make it a central part of a deck.

Infect: the creature does damage in the form of -1/-1 counters, so the damage on the creature is permanent. They deal damage to the player in the form of poison counters (and you know what happens with those already). OP, meet Infect.

Double Strike: The creature deals damage twice, once as first strike, the second as normal. So, a 1/1 double strike creature will deal one point of damage during first strike, and then 1 more point in normal. It basically doubles their damage and makes the first half first strike. Kinsbail Cavalier and whatever the name of that OP sliver that gives slivers double strike....if it comes out, you lose.

And of course, there's certain ultimate abilities of planeswalkers...
