    idk about that lol

they've done a lot. But when your dev plan is the most ambitious in history I'm not sure that implies you're close to a game. haha

stellaris is more of a game than this. And that was probably done with a few million dollars and a few guys

Mainly comparing SC to other similar games like ED, SC has a long way to go but even with just one system its still much more indepth that ED, being able to move around your ship and travel the system properly unlike that supercruise nonsense just makes things feel right, this time next year we should be able to at least play the SQ42 campaign.

Stellaris is a great game but its so much easier to make than SC but the games are different types so cant really compare, SC has gone balls deep with features and stuff but theres no stopping it now, it has not really taken that long to make in reality considering the size but its hard to keep gamers happy these days.

    that's my point tho

their lack of ambition dictates how much of a game you have.

Star citizen hasn't provided anything I would want to play for more than a few minutes yet.

Ambition in this context is rarely a boon unless you can follow through. And that certainly hasn't happened yet

edit - granted i don't play other space sims either because of their lack of ambition in game design.

SC still needs work but its going to be one of those games where you make your own path and find what you enjoy doing, so much more job potentials to make currency any way you want, it wont be for everyone but its headed in the right direction to what a space MMO is about, mainly play my space strategy games with star trek/stargate mods because ships look better though

What do you have against ED's supercruise?

just doesnt feel like it works as an accurate model for travel within a system, the star citizen system is much better and can even go around your ship and do whatever you want in transit, with the systems coming in place this travel can be used for routine maint on ship systems and to carry out repairs.

Is Star Citizen still using the quantum-drive that hops you directly to the destination after faffing around with calibration and spooling? I think I prefer the super-cruise in E where you are flying around and get a better sense of scale, even if it means you have to spend a lot of time in transit.

activation on quantum drive is no real different from supercruise just lock on to where your wanting to go charge up and activate, in quantum drive your actually in the star system, in supercruise its a seperate thing altogether and gives a false sense of scale, supercruise and normal space in ED are two different things but in SC your always in the same space, i prefer a realm of realism to my space games even if its an approximation.

Now ED is still a good game it just doesnt have what it needs to complete that feeling of what a space game should be, unless they have added it in recently then your still basically glued to a pilot seat with no other interaction with the universe, that alone takes alot out of what many people want in a space game.

I must have got muddled, I thought the SC quantum drive just hopped you to the destination, admittedly I only watched one video but it didn't look like Elite's supercruise where you have full control where to go and (without the specialist module) have to set speed and drop at the correct time.

nah it can take 15-20 mins to reach then outlying planets like arc corp and you start roughly in the middle, although smaller ships cant make large trips like that so if your ship is too small its limited to within a small range of planets, Star citizen you cant control the direction onces its started but can just stop and change course when needed, its going pretty fast so ships wouldnt really be designed to make turns at ludicrus speed but you dont miss your destination occasionally like ED so turning in quantum wouldnt be needed.

Even bannerlord will be released before this game.

I got nothing against people spending their money their way.
Screenshots and youtube won't convince me to buy a game, I'll wait for a demo and try it myself. If there is one now and I'm not informed, then that's my bad.
From the footage I saw the movement is... strange, the gunplay not what I would enjoy (same for Borderlands) and so on. It looks like it's 'in work'.

I'm in no rush to throw money on any pre-order, and for me that's what star citizen is atm: promises. I've learned my lessons with Diablo, and the last Demo I tried was Anthem. That one convinced me that Anthem is not for me so my decision to not spend money was taken after I tested it myself.

If at some point the game will be released and it will be Good (or 'not bad'), then the gaming industry will have a new standard.

SC is a long way off from being completed. None of the gameplay loops are completed and everything is in an unfinished state. The frame rate still takes weird hits.

Ill say this. If SC can keep its funding, it may be a really good game in about 5 years. Right now, its a mediocre test server. Its going to take a lot of development for me to re-install it.

One day it may be the game they promised, and if it is, great! But I have this feeling they bit off way more than they can chew.

You might want to take a look on the developement roadmap for SQ42 and all the progress it has made this year. Only one chapter seems to be have reached the next phase in time.

you do realise the largest step will be going from stages 2-3 so a large portion of the work will be done at that point, its more than on track for next year atm, but if it takes longer it takes longer, some stages may be just waiting for assets to be completed since ships can take months to get ready, people who understand the game realise its more complex than most games previously made.

80:20 rule my friend. It applies in every development.

The biggest hurdle will be at last phase.

pretty much half SQ 42 is within the production phase which is most of the work, biggest hurdle is stage 4 with the last phase being polish and thats what the alpha will be for, we are getting more than what we were promised with SQ42 also so it doesnt really matter if it happens to take a little longer.

    A little. Yea..

Answer the call 2014-2016. It's already long overdue. And there is no chance in hell we will see something from SQ42 next year.

When will they realise that it's "face it"

Every roadmap in game development suffers delays or changes in priority, it's part of the process of making games. This is "news" if you haven't followed how any other game is made.

It's time to face it, Star Citizen is not only happening but is already the best space game experience for people that enjoy multiplayer action. And it's only getting better and better.

This useless push for "drama" based on hot air appears like clockwork every year from the same ones again and again. Just another round of wasted time and energy finding reasons to hate on Star Citizen.

Shhhhh, don't write his name. He's like the Candyman, if you write it three time he appears to start threatening people in whatever thread he's summoned to with lawsuits : P
