    Patch 2.1 Customization - Cathars & more

Hey there, I do realize there is a thread below with some speculation on the cathars so feel free to merge this mods if you want.

    Patch 2.1 "Customization"

    1) Cathars.

    • Unlockable via the cartel market for cartel coins (600 cartel coins) . You can convert either an existing character or reroll a new character.
    • Unlock is account wide rather than just legacy wide (i.e. applied to all servers, all your legacies)
    • Available to all eight classes (both factions)
    • Both male and female
    • Cool new fur patterns, new hair styles
    • Great social emote for your Cathar pride
    • Trooper companion Aric Jordan will be have his appearance adjusted to bring him inline with the new Cathar models. He will be utilizing the new fur technology and better reflect how Cathars will look.

Here is a video from swtor youtube channel on cathars: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zvWqcULd_s

    2) Appearance Designer Kiosk

    • Allow you to change your hairstyle, your haircolor, eyecolor, species, scars, tattoos
    • Introduced a few new hairstyles and hair colors for certain species
    • Plans to continue introduce options in the appearance designer in the future months at a regular cadence.
    • Roleplay players can enjoy the ability to customize their character’s appearance as their character level up (i.e. adding battle scars after a big battle).
    • Cartel coins only but there is a permanent discount on all appearance designer kiosk options for subscribers – up to 50% on a lot of options such as species change.
    • If you want to change your character to a Cathar example, there is just a one time fee associated with all the Cathar options.
    • Charging on a per slider basis – if you just want to change your eye color for example, you can just jump in, change it right away and just get charged for that.
    • For species changes, you can preview any species, play around with it, and then decide to unlock that species (if you don’t already have it) directly from the kiosk for credits or cartel coins.
    • Kiosks are placed in fleet and in capital worlds for now.
    • Accessing the Kiosk will be similar to character creation – it will load up a full portrait view of your character and you can zoom in and out as needed.
    • You can change pretty much anything you can change in character creation – scars, tattoos, species, etc.

    3) Dye Modules

    • Give you the ability to either dye entire armor sets or mix-match specific pieces of armor.
    • Two portions of your gear are dyeable: primary color and secondary color (i.e. for Havoc squad armor, white would be primary color and orange would be the secondary color).
    • Dye modules come in primary only, secondary only, and primary & secondary mixed.
    • Dye modules are consumables so you can insert them to change colors but gets destroyed once you pull them out.
    • You will see them in the cartel market for direct purchase, in future packs (i.e. contraband packs and beyond), a certain amount of colors are available through crafting (no details on the crew skills involved but you can RE them), and some unique colors from the security key and Collector’s Edition vendors. Expect more colors to be added in the coming months.
    • Dye modules work off the current item enhancement/modding system. You will just open up the item modification panel for any gear you want to dye, drop a dye module in the new dye module slot, and hit accept to have it dyed.
    • Many pieces of equipment will be able to be dyed and you can preview a dye module on that specific piece of equipment before hitting accept.
    • Unified to chest also works – you can just dye your chest piece and have the color applied to rest of your outfit.
    • Some items are not dyeable – anything below L15, anything green (unless it comes from crafting), are generally not dyeable.
    • Lore outfits like armor of Jolee Bindo are not dyeable.

Surprisingly cheaper than I imagined it would be. And are those new hairstyles I see? Can't tell, but they don't look familiar to me.

more interested in the barbershop if there will be new tattoos , hair , blindfolds etc if the price is right
If everything I do is wrong then by god ill do it right

While its not completely free- they are offering a change with the 600 coin purchase (which is extremely cheap). It even unlocks account wide and applies to any future characters.

I am honestly quite surprised, despite my backing of SWTOR. I thought we'd still be screwed over somehow with this (but I'd still fork over money regardless). I'm happy.

So for 600 cartel coins I can change my existing lvl 55 character to Cathar?

  7. #7
    That's what it looks like.

I wonder what they are adding to the CE vendor, since they said some additions were being made to that in 2.1 as well. Would be cool of them to let you buy the Cathar with a handful of credits.

Yes, but you also unlock Cathar for your entire account so you roll a new character as that race.

There is also a video that gives more information about the character customization that you will be able to do in 2.1. They start talking about changes to the cartel market but if you ignore that and wait until about 45 seconds in you will find more interesting information.

You will be able to change hair, eyes etc and also body type, race and color of your armor sets. I didn't except to be able to change color of the armor so that is a nice surprise.

Well, I guess I can retire my PvP look since everyone will be recoloring their armor to match.

WoW, the news about the Cathar and armor colour change are mind blowing. I did not expect it would be that cheap to race change to Cathar and I thought with how things go with the Cartel Market items regarding armor, I was seriously not expecting Bioware to add means to recolour armor sets this soon.

It's all nice features, I do hope they can add more UI options in the future too.

So the dye system will be through the CM?

(Neverwinter) - Trickster Rogue & Guardian Fighter -

Some of them in the preview vid look pretty cool, but that first one looks like an ugly Zabrak.

They want to make it feel like your getting a great deal out of it so you will more people will buy it.

Still dont think subs should have to pay anything for it at all but its better to be a one time small cost rather than a per character cost.

Its like someone stealing 10 dollars from your wallet when you had 100,000 in it. Your glad they didnt steal it all but then again they were stealing.

Except its not stealing since its a choice if you want to buy it or not. You can't hand someone money and then call the police on them and claiming they stole it... well you can do that actually but it doesn't make it true.

Am I the only one who thinks the Cathar look even worse now? They look like an amateurish reskin of a human. They actually looked somewhat cat-like previously.

the old models looked a lot better. but, at least i don't have to look as bad as those guys on makeb. they're just fucking hideous.

I much prefer these new Cathar skins tbh. I see them as a vast improvement on the previous ones. However I'm most looking forward to the armor dye system. Depending on the choice of colours it should be a fun time customizing for me. SWG's armor dye kits had upto 64 colours/shades but I'd easily settle for half that.
