diplomatic relations between the Nothern Alliance and the High Elves, and the between the remnants of the Northern Alliance and the Blood Elves before they go to outland, and between the Southern Alliance and the Blood Elves after they return from Outland are really more complicated than either of you are actually acknowledging.

Rexxar. They can put out story and build him up afterwards.

I'd hope Thrall back with doomhammer and the doomhammer's chestplate.

If I were to guess how this all would go down it would be like this:

Since Varian "allows" another warchief and that blizzards keep saying the story ends on a high note for the Alliance, I would say Varian let's Lor'themar become the leader of the horde due to the fact he has been getting a better story as well as his time with Jaina on the isle of thunder. He would be closer to the Alliance than any other and the only way I see Varian allow it to happen. So yeah Warchief Lor'themar

Anybody but Lor'themar would give me relief. He's the worst candidate for warchief, and only a popular choice amongst the "ALL MY CHARS ARE ELFS!" crowd.

It's highly likely though. It'll probably be between Lor'themar and Vol'jin, as I expect Blizzard featured them heavily in this expansion for a reason.

This is why i'm leaning towards jaina as a temporary regent. There's no logical reason for Varian to say "oh, let's not crush them, even though that's the entire point of the game" unless someone steps in his way that he would be hestitant to kill in the path of wiping out the horde. She is not a permanent "warchief" but she may just burn some bridges with the alliance in order to save thrall and baine. After all they did warn her about garosh. She owes them something.

I just can't come to grips as to why Varian would instill anyone instead of crushing the horde unless he were forced too.

The thing is, it's become less about crushing the Horde/Alliance, and more about peace. It is WARcraft, but I doubt Wrathion's sayings have gone unheard to the leaders. Plus Varian was in talks about the Blood Elves rejoining the Alliance before Jaina went batshit crazy. I'd imagine Varian, if the case, would appoint Lor'themar.

Because it's a video game and destroying the faction with the most paying customers would be a really stupid move.

The sound files for Wrathion clearly state the Varian allowed another warchief which means it is a member of the horde now. So that's why I think it is Lor'themar with how they have giving him more of a story and how he has been standing up for himself rather than let Sylvania push him around. He had time to work with jaina and were able to leave peacefully. This gives the Alliance a fist pump moment as they choose who it will be along with it being someone who isn't hostile toward the alliance.

it's either going to be vol'jin or lor'themar, personally im leaning more towards lor'themar because given his story arc it would make sense

True with the soundfile, but then again that wouldn't discount the jaina theory. He would "allow her" to survive rather than crush her with the horde. Maybe allow her against his will type thing.

He's not a bad choice. He has ties to Kalimdor and Pandaria (through his son being chosen by Chi-ji himself), and is a paladin. He's a slightly more warlike version of Baine.
