We don't have a problem with killing in self defense, and those people have brain waves. Animals also have brain waves. What makes humans special? Is it because we evolved to be social animals? Because killing other members of a group is wrong, not because it's inherently wrong to kill, but because those who didn't kill other group members were selected for (because of an advantage in survival that comes with protecting each other)?

And so would it be fair to say that killing is neither right nor wrong, but rather right or wrong depending on circumstance?

I'd accept circumstance is paramount to the morality of whether something lives or dies. I'm still firmly of the mind though the case of this girl, circumstance is irrelevant, as Rukentuts said if it hasn't reached fetal viability it should be completely up to the host, not the parasite.

That does help the judge's ruling though. If she doesn't understand basic sex-ed, how could she say she fully understands abortions? Omaha is near the top of the list actually for education. But it is definitely a bible thumper state. So they may know math, biology, chemistry, history. They're also taught something else entirely on sunday

We can't say that teenagers are idiots and then turn around and say they should be mature enough to not get lost in the heat of the moment. It's got to be one or the other, and everyone with a brain knows which one the mass majority of teens fall under.

Point being, I don't care if abortion is legal or illegal. However, I shouldn't be the one paying for it, barring rape, etc. Also, abortion isn't just a women's reproductive rights issue, it takes a man to help make the child after all.
