    Has PvP Improved

I was one of many beta players who loved the game then only to be disapointed at how PvP balance and open world PvP turned out...Like many pthers the changes and lack of progress caused me to go back to WoW. So, I ask has anything changed PvP wise or is it pretty much the same Swotr its always been?

IMO PvP in SWTOR is fun. Since launch they've altered the range of some CCs, introduced resolve (IIRC that wasn't in game at launch) but essentially it's very similar to launch.....and I hope they don't change too much.
Again only my opinion but the class balance in SWTOR is no worse than WoW.

I think pvp was one of SWTORS strongest and most fun aspects from the beginning.
they improved it with some balancing (although no MMO will ever be truly balanced) and added of course some warzones and lately introduced arenas.

they botched Ilum and have not replaced it yet, and I doubt they will, the engine doesnt allow that.

the most exciting thing about pvp right now is surely the 12on12 starfighter space pvp that will launch next month for subscribers.

PvP is largely unchanged. A lot of changes have occurred since Beta (too many to list), but the same basics remain in play. Resolve was introduced to deal with chain CC's, but that has had largely mixed results. The balance has taken a few hits and is, in my opinion, not as good as it was at launch but still better than any other MMO I have played (personal opinion of course). The classes remain fun to play and most every class has at least 1 viable PvP spec. New warzones have also been added, Arena combat as well. Starting in December we will see space combat that is not linked to ground combat, so that will be new and exciting.

As for open world PvP, its still dead. They have tried to dip their toes into it with a revamp of Ilum and it was met with the majority of players trading objectives (like old Ilum) and a few "trolls" who tried to instigate skirmishes (really just ganking loners).

I played a force caster DPS and liked that but the gear grind was ridiculously long, much longer than WoW.

PVP is fun in SWTOR and that is coming from someone who tried to stay away from PVP in every other game as good as possible.

It would be better if Bioware wouldn't take forever and three days for class balance changes which you will only barely feel in the end anyway.

Really? It takes about a week of moderate playtime to get fully geared in the unranked gear.

Maybe the poster played at launch when the gear grind was much worse.

Damn yeah...remember the random items in packs? With my luck on drops I would still not have a full set now if they had stuck with that approach!

True...that was RNG hell. Whoever thought that was a good idea deserves a swift kick in the pants.

    The current model is actually quite nice. Its really easy to get geared in the base PvP armor. It takes significantly more time to get geared in the top PvP armor, but the stats are painfully minor. In fact its arguably better to optimize mods in your base PvP armor over getting suboptimized top PvP armor...of course with bolster 54 greens can be better. Bolster makes Warzones kinda silly sometimes. >_>;;

Bolster makes sure you ain't a free kill when you just hit 55 wich is great.
Gear meaning less makes the game more competitive, wich is a good thing.

    Unbelievably it gotten worse.

I just have no idea how a company like bioware can only not to improve their game, but get it worse than launch.

Just had 4 "arena" matches in a row.

So you queue for small scale pvp and instead you get micro scale pvp. Enemy team has a tank, healer and two dpses. You have only two dpses (yeah, 2 vs 4). Fun. So much fun. I did win one match when we got a proper team. But enemy had a scoundrel healer. So you basicly stand still for 4 friggin minutes untill poison comes. Fun. Standing around, so much fun.

geez wtf is wrong with bioware. Zero updates, some changes and changes are for the worst.

Imo it's still 2nd best MMORPG, but the gap between 1st and this is sooo enormous... Personally I lost hope for a good MMORPG comming out in the next 7 years.

edit: 5th in a row, bai bai for another month

Not sure what you are complaining about Idev...can you elaborate?

Arena is intended as a small scale deathmatch. A common complaint (and one I agree with) it fixing them in with the regular Warzone rotation. I would like the option to queue separately if I so desired.

The second most common complaint I hear is regarding stealth, specifically when there is only 1 stealth left and they wait out for the poison and try to knock people in it to win. I have never seen this actually work first-hand, but if this is a valid tactic then its one I would like to see addressed.

Being that it is a random Unranked, you get all sorts...sometimes people leave and you don't have a full group. Sometimes you get an unbalanced group. Sometimes you get people who have no idea what they are doing, and other times you get the best PvPers on the server. Its as random as any other Warzone honestly. That being said, I have beaten "balanced" teams and lost to "imbalanced" teams. I've also both won and lost games where we were both up and down a man.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say with your picture though...that you fought a bunch of bad Sentinels?

I fought typical arena group. This (arenas) is in no way fun.

Well if you fought a team that looks like it stood there and autoattacked, then yes I agree.

However, I'd like to counter your example with an Arena match I had on my Merc yesterday, one where we were 3v4. We managed to take out a Sniper, then our Sorc died, then we got their Assassin and Marauder before our Powertech died. That left me with no CD's and 1/3 health vs. a full healthed Sorc. I managed to kite him long enough to get a few heals until my knockback came up, then was able to knock him into the pit (Tattoine map) while I LOS'd and healed up. I was able to continue kiting and healing his damage until my CD's came back up, then I was able to lay into him with full force and we won the round. To me, that was a lot of fun.

I would also note that Ranked Solo Queue Arenas are a GREAT way to mitigate the healing bonanza that permeates general Warzones. I have absolutely zero fun in matches with 3-5 healers on one side. I have yet to see double healers in Ranked Solo Queue, and although I don't win all the time, I have a lot more fun in the matches than playing for 12min with no one dieing.

I get double healers all the time.

Not literally, but it feels like it and that's bioware shitiness.

If you run into double healers the majority of the time then I would immediately seek the help of a voodoo priest to help remove whatever hex someone has put on you. Seriously...you must have some really bad juju to be that unlucky.

It's not luck. It's bioware shitiness. Because bioware puts zero efforts into this game so no cross server warzones. Pretty much stuck on my server with bullshit gameplay.

Yes, this is valid. The poison doesn't kill instantly, it just ticks for high damage, so all you need to do is make sure the others take one extra tick or heal yourself worth 1 tick and you win. This is annoying not because of the tactic itself (once you know what to do at the end it's easy to counter) but because you end up waiting the whole timer while knowing the outcome anyway.

They should counter the hiding by adding some anti-stealth buff, let's say add a clickable object in the center of the map that you have to channel for 20 seconds without taking damage and it reveals all stealthers in the map or something similar that wouldn't have an effect on a real battle.

Rift has better pvp then SWTOR which is kinda sad nothing has changed at all in SWTOR PVP.
