What code? that is what is killing me. 95% of what they did on Demo Island is just a map and a character controller. You can download the tutorials from Unity and get more functioning code that is unusable than you could from ToA. You mean the code that makes the little ´health ring´? or the code that makes you roll? The housing stuff Teddy did a nice job implementing, but that isn´t anything you can´t buy really cheap. Oh, wait.. they mean the naming system... the one that doesn´t actually work on a network server... If I wanted that one, I would just ask the guy who wrote it in an hour.
That person has the same paranoia as Brax. Listen.. the reason your game sucks is because it is not a game, there is nothing there, there is nothing that anyone would want. Seriously, put some of it on the Unity store for $5. Nobody will buy it. It is nothing that anyone can´t do themselves in very little time, and actually have it work properly.
I actually did like the stacking wood script.. then I saw that they couldn´t put a collider on it and who the hell wants a stack of wood that people can just walk right through... which is ironic since one of the ´key´ parts to their game was that characters had colliders...

It was one of the flaws of their plan when they were bragging about ´press coverage´ early on. The press coverage they were getting was not real coverage, it was some lazy websites allowing developers to publish their own news articles. So then when it came time to actually try to get press coverage, their fans can´t understand why it disappeared.... hint.. it disappeared because it was never there to begin with. Your devs were deceiving you.
One thing that I'm sure of, that played a pretty big part in the KS fiasco, is the anonymity in general amongst this "team".
So, you bump into their KS, check the video, notice the $600k request, and then head over to their webpage (which looks like mid 90s Geocities btw) you'll find dropdown menus with lore, screenshots, forum etc. But there is one MAJOR thing missing; where is the 'About' / 'Who we are' / 'Meet the team'?
There are not one single word on that page about who they are, or what they do, previous projects etc. Is this a one-man show? Are there 20+ talented guys on board?
And yet, they expect this amount of money to be thown at them, from random people.
Big companies do it sometimes. They allow the press to play the demo, but they make them sign a NDA to only talk about certain features. You generally ask them not to talk about stuff that is very early in development or unannounced features and instead stick to the stuff that is further along.
But that is big companies where the writers need the company more than the company needs that writer. In that situation, the company can put some restrictions on the writer. But with Brax´s overdeveloped sense of self worth, I could see him doing the same thing and having a huge, crazy NDA for writers.

Brax´s entire claim to fame is that he played UO. In some ways KS is funny because basically everyone who has ever been involved with EQ, DAOC and UO as a developer has come back and started a KS for a new game and cited their experience. Brax is the only one I know of that cites his PLAYING UO as experience for starting a KS.
Not much to say about skill-less couch potato nobodies except "we take money from the poor and students' loans by selling unmade virtual garbage."

Alright gents, lets tone down the calling out individual posts on their forums. It's not really productive and it's kinda not cool.
I do hope you don't include responses to those posts along with this. Mocking the posts or the posters is pretty lame, but making an account over there scares me; the blind fanatacism may be contagious, and I'm too vulnerable to infection at the moment.
On a more serious note, I'm hopeful some of the folks that are quite so zealous (both sides, honestly) can come to grips with the reality of the situation. Keep in mind, some people are probably kinda hurt. For all their ineptitude and potential scamming, even the actual folks at Shadowpool/FC have lost something real in this whole endeavor. If it's not their "labor of love", it's any potential future they may have had in the games industry.
It's pretty unfortunate that people on the ToA forums have developed their own conspiracy theories. It's not like there haven't been a few over here or anything, but the need to cling to theories to not accept everything is a pretty big deal, and Brax needs to be really realistic, forthcoming, and sincere about what's actually happening to the future of that IP.
Labor of love? Potential future in the gaming industry? I hope we are not talking about the 3 useless CEO's of Forged Chaos. Those people are totally inept and squandered years that could have been used to learn how to code. When you have to show people how to turn the game servers on...there is a problem. Yes some of the fans are losing something they may have loved for the community or ideas, but I am glad FC is losing any potential they had in the gaming industry. I want those people out of the game making business.
Brax does not know how to be realistic, forthcoming or sincere. Did you read some of his 'not going to point fingers' super 'transparency' posts? Think he is really going to come out and say "Yes I don't know how to code, I tried to do smalltime work and pretend I was super busy teaching people how to do x and y when I was not learning how to code". I don't see him ever admitting anything. I just hope they stop posting and fade into the shadows never to be seen making games again.
The problem is that there actually are at least some people who've been hopeful about this crappy endeavor of Brax & Co's, and they deserve some actual closure instead of what's likely to be a repeat of 2008 or whatever.
He may not actually be able to, but for the actual fans' sake, I hope he can be.
If he pulls a repeat of that "Oh hey, I'm sorry, but it's totally not my fault IknowIjusttookalltheblamebutit'sactuallyalltheirfault" post of his, then I suppose there can be no hope for whatever fans of his idea still exist. But for Brax himself? Ya, he's gone.
Oh man. I laughed so much when that illuminati one-time poster replied with the x-files theme. Whoever that was, you're my hero!
From what I see over there, there are like 3 people who don´t have closure. Most of the people have realized that FC overstated their skills and progress and that they were exposed and the game is never going to happen because you can´t have three monkeys making a MMORPG with no skills. Another big portion think FC was fairly honest, but the game still isn´t going to be made by FC because it is too big for such a small niche market. Then you have 3 people who think the game is awesome and just needs more hype to succeed and that we are the reason the KS failed.
The conversation for the most part has turned more civil because almost everyone now realizes that Brax is never making this game...except for those few people. I honestly don´t believe that this game can never be made because it is too niche.. it can be made if someone with the appropriate skills REALLY makes it a labor of love. You don´t need any hype to make a game, you don´t need a social media team, you just need one person willing to work hard and they can make any niche game they want.
My argument is that one of your main points was that it was impossible for ToA to succeed because using Unity as a client in a MMO is impossible. Even you have admitted that is possible so I don't know why you are being so argumentative. At least I have linked articles (Unity user forums/vg dev blogs) saying it is possible as proof; what have you provided beyond your word?
let me see your links:

Short Answer: No.
Long answer: You can make PART of an MMORPG with Unity. In specific, the client part.
But the client part of an MMORPG like SWTOR is like the part of an iceberg that shows above the surface. The heavy lifting is really done by the back-end. That is where you locate any game logic that requires security and that is where the scaling and persistence dwells.
Unity's out of the box server solution is a slightly mis-designed FPS solution. It is not built for and could not handle the scale and logic of a game like SWTOR.
The answer that said "hook it up to your server solution' is correct... but that to do that server solution right is probably 70% of the effort and there are no "out of the box" solutions for that.

In theory you can make anMMO ........
I said in theory because to make an MMO you'll need lots of other software and some budget to create game contents and code and ... I bring this up because most of who ask this question are smaller Indies which want to do a MMO and it's their first or second game. My advice is to start with something smaller and single player and then make yourself a master of unity. Then find a good set of software for doing other stuff or create a team consisting of people who are specialists in any of the areas.
your links basically say : You must be dumb as a rock to try to build an MMO using Unity as your first game.
