Portal roulette is a feature of the game that is intended to breath life and fun into an otherwise stale environment. There is no reason that it shouldn't be considered exciting that you could wind up in Stormwind or Theramore, Orgrimmar or Stonard, Dalaran or Shattrath, Tol Barad or Dalaran Crater.


It's up to us, as mages, to stop this slander and show the world what it truly means to be Azeroth's premiere taxi service.

So they can keep LoF and put in a fucking engineering item to stop LoF usage on you, but Portal Roulette gets scrapped. One also kills you in combat while the other just trolls you (and your Mage typically comes and fixes it for them anyways)

Exactly. It's harmless fun that doesn't hurt anyone. Even if I take them to Dalaran crater, I typically jump in after them and slowfall them.

It's just for a laugh while LoF does cause rage. Our thing is fucking out of combat; I don't understand why they really had to break it. Hell, they could just give us an ACTUAL "Random Portal" spell and make it show a bright ass graphic to indicate "THIS PORTAL IS RANDOM!".

Fuck that, just give us a spell like they're doing for all the Polymorphs.

They could easily make all these Polymorph spells and Random Portal/Teleport spells into an epic questline for funs and lols too, since we never got an actual Mage Questline that wasn't shared with others (like doing Deadmines or SFK).

Wheel of portals was a tradition in raids I've been in from vanilla through bc. And I did not play a mage. Best use of gameplay mechanics since bugging the raptor.

I think a "Random Portal" spell that literally could teleport you anywhere, from the middle of Loch Modan to a mountain in Storm Peaks, would be awesome.

Players were not forced to do it, I don't understand why it "wasn't fun" for them when my guild mates in every guild I wanted were always wanting the end-of-raid portal game.

Damn it Blizzard; it's not up to you to dictate what I do and do not find fun. I find Portal Roulette plenty enjoyable, and I'm not a Mage.

If it's really such a problem you want to take it out, which I don't think it is, just throw a glyph in there to make both sides happy.

I think one Blizz employee who isn't a Mage got mad one day when he got portaled somewhere incorrect. Out of anyone I've ever done Portal Roulette to, I've never once heard complaints. Just neutral to positive remarks about it.

Where are people being fucked over by mage ports? Randoms? Get smart, don't click it when you're paying for the port? After raids? You're gonna hearth anyway, probably to shrine, which has portals to almost literally anywhere else you'd port to. I like portal roulette, it's fun, and you have to be dumb to have people take advantage of you with it.

But hey, let's put in an almost exclusively troll portal that sends people to their fucking deaths if they don't have a slowfall or bird form to break the 100 yard fall. #gamedesign #logic #irony
