For me this movie looks promising for 3 reasons:
- it doesn't pander to the Kanto region mons (at this point I'm sick of it, make the mainstream accept other mons and fill the movie-world with some variety)
- it removes the utopian setting (not that I mind it in anime/games, but it would probably be very hard to imitate in real world, also it makes the interactions (like Mr. Mime's interrogation) more genuine)
- the mons art style tries to blend with real world while also trying to stay true to original designs, instead of standing out with overly bright colors and distinctly outlined shapes (Pikachu's fur or Mr. Mime's little hair on his skin, both wouldn't be shown if they followed the original style too closely).

I agree with your points. After the absolute shitshow the LGPE are turning out to be, I was very pleased at how much attention to detail the movie seems to be getting. Whoever is behind this movie did their research.

I also feel like the noir genre and the fact it isnt based off of trainers lends itself to a better movie plot. it looks like this was made by actual pokemon fans and feels like something that would fit in that world

Wow i'm glad i didn't buy it... i'm sorry but thats just no way to enjoy a pokemon game atleast compared to the past games. However we all have our own speed of progress. I hope those that did buy it enjoy it but this sealed it for me.

i mean, its not uncommon for pokemon fans to beat the main story in a day or two. it always surprises me though because it always takes me atleast 50 to 100 hours to beat a pokemon game. maybe im just slow at them

Anecdotal exeprience here, but most the people I know who play don't have a switch yet, so of course they haven't purchased one. A few plan on hitting the black friday sale on switchs and getting the game in addition.

But I found it to be fun, though I genuinely hope we get a return to battling wild pokemon. That part was just super off putting, to me, and I enjoy grinding my experience out. Though I hope GameFreak eventually changes all gym leader + elite 4/champion and other "official" battles to a set level battle with additional rules. Like the first gym having a lvl cap of 15, if you're over it ducks you down, if you are under then you're at a handicap. Some gyms have double battles, others with starting weather/terrain effects. Unlikely but I can hope. Also a fake 'rom I played once had increased health pools and slightly decreased move power across the board, which made fights longer then 1-2 stab knock outs, and I personally enjoyed it. I know others have in the past have said that sounds terrible to them. But hopefully the "official" battles one day will be a bit more evened out and not able to just be roflstomped by lvl.

My old Red team though didn't hold up to the test of time as well as I remember, poor Seadra who was a center point of my team just didn't pull its weight.

Anyways hope everyone had some fun with the game, I just hope that USUM doesn't completely die, I'm still having more fun with it then Let'sGo.

I get that every move that Eevee can learn is from each type of its Eeveelution but still...they could have given more moves to Pikachu.

The Pikachu moves are already strong enough to steamroll the game, and cover his weaknesses. No need for further easying.

Buzzy Buzz-Hey lets have Thunderbolt be guaranteed Paralysis
Sizzly Slide- A slightly weaker flareblitz with no recoil and guaranteed burn..man Flareon would KILL for this
Baddy Bad-Hey everyone lets have a waay more powerful dark pulse that also puts of Reflect!
Glitzy Glow-So what happens when Psychic also puts up Light Screen....Espeon would kill for both the dark and psychic version of these
Freezy Frost-Ice Beam with Haze..in one move...
Sappy Seed-This is literally Leaf Blade with the added plus of putting in Leech Seeds...
Sparkly Swirl-AKA Moon Blast mixed with heal bell...


The only thing not making those TOO overpowered is the fact that the eevee that can learn them cannot evolve....almost every eeveelution would kill for the kinda coverage having these moves before they evolve would give. Just put these moves in a real pokemon game where it CAN evolve then we might see some dangerous stuff...not too dangerous but still dangerous

Pikachu/Raichu really can't abuse the new moves too bad in a real game though
