No, Inaho was definitely grating. He, as a character, was bland and badly written, but the way the other cast members interacted and though about him made it grating.

Still extremely different characters in extremely different shows with extremely different sources of grievances. Slaine would make for a better comparison with Subaru and even that is a stretch.

Aside from both shows sharing the :Zero suffix, I don't even see why they'd be open for comparison.

The concept of plastic is lost upon the inhabitants of this land since they haven't created it yet, so of course the dragon would have no idea what to do. Hopefully at least he enjoyed the snacks that were probably shoved up his nostrils too.

Just finished my rewatch of Babylon 5 seasons 1-4 (season 5 is pretty weak so I don't bother). I know it's not an anime, but I think it's easily the best sci-fi series produced in the West and heartily recommend it to anybody far over more popular titles. While there are a lot of great characters, I have to give special praise to Peter Jurasik's portrayal of Londo Mollari. He is able to convey the cynicism, the regret, the loss, and the resolve of such a checkered and memorable character (obvious spoilers in the links).


Edit: that said, S1 is pretty weak. It takes a bit of time for things to get going.
