Whats Your Favorite Kind of Bar?

I mean the kind where you can drink, not eat. (So no, a Hershey bar is not what I mean, Also metal bars do not count. I am only specifically speaking of the kind of bars you walk into to drink at or have fun)


Do you like little hole in the wall type places? (small place, usually an older crowd)
Do you like what I call "Barsturants" They are basically bars turned into actual restaurants?
Do you like restaurants that have a decent enough selection? (Think Buffalo wild wings, or Applebees, etc)
Do you like dance bars? Places where you can have a drink and have a small dance floor to go crazy on?
Do you like clubs? The focus is on the music, but there is a lot of alcohol.
Do you like Strip clubs? (as per Captain N's request)
Do you like Wine bars? (Thanks Gabriel)

Or do you stay home to drink,

But I don't drink honestly at all, but out of that list, I do go to Applebees but not to drink, and "Barsturants" would be a second choice.

I don't like dancing honestly that much, and large amounts of people in a noise packed room is hardly my idea of a fun time.

I like "barsturants." Gastropubs that have good food, but also a full bar with creative bartenders that enjoy coming up with new creative cocktails.

I prefer to drink around a fire. If I go out I like little hole in wall bars with my friends. GF loves clubs tho so that's where I usually am even tho I cant stand them. Cant hear anyone and I don't enjoy dancing. I just don't see the point of it.

Anyone ever been to powerplant in bmore? its like $10-$15 to get in, then if u wanna go into pbr its another $10. Then you pay $5+ for a beer where the awesome selection is miller lite or coors lite.

My favorite bar is a tiny little thing few miles from my home. Music is loud enough to hear but not so loud that you have to yell, older crowd so they know how to handle their liquor and not act like animals, and the drinks are cheap. They also have craft beers so I don't have to drink Bud Light all night. I can't stand club bars at all. Waaaay too many people, music is not my taste and its way too fucking loud and the drinks are like $6 for a beer or something ridiculous.

Ideally though I enjoy drinking at my home or someone else's and relaxing.

I would say a gastropub is a barsturant, but not all that serve food that is high quality is a gastropub so I made my own word. Just for future reference for those scrolling.

Varies a lot.. Kind doesn't matter much, the places I frequent are all because of atmosphere. Most commonly café/bar places and regular pubs.

I like to eat good food while I drink, so I definitely prefer restaurants with good cocktails or whiskey. It never bothers me if the selection is poor.

My bad, I like sports bars mostly if its just a couple people. But if it's a big group of friends I would rather go to an Irish pub type place. The amount of people don't really bother me. But whatever the place is, it better have some damn good apps.

I also don't get why you should pay an expensive cover charge at the door (where maybe you have to wait in line too) only to get in and find they don't even make good drinks, and the shitty drinks they have available are all overpriced.

If I can't get a Negroni, it's probably not a place I particularly want to be drinking. If I can't even get something as basic as a Martini, I know for damn sure I'm in the wrong place. If I ask for a Martini and they give me Vodka, I may have to physically restrain myself from violence.
