    Paladin Healing

How good are Paladin healers at the moment? What are they Pro's and Con's?

  2. #2
I personally can't stand it. All my heals feel weak, slow, I can barely keep people alive who aren't the tank, and theres massive group damage in every instance.

That being said, I have seen a lot of holy paladins absolutely kill it in healing. Lots of raids seem to require one. It is likely that I am doing something wrong!

You need to use Beacon of Virtue in Dungeons. I feel like our Single-Target Healing is way too good. Tanks don't have enough HP for you to use all that Healing. Especially Wings feel like a waste all the time, especially with my Legendary Belt in 7.1.5 it will be even more useless overhealing. I will critheal for like 2M or something!
I want that Talent back that Reduces Duration and Cooldown of Wings by 50%.

Especially the crits.. ooh the crits.. I often have heals for over a million.
Mmmm baby. Tell me about those crits.

We crit really often and when HS crits, it crits real hard. I love healing as a holy paladin. Playstyle is fun and the heals are really good. Did I mention I love the crits?

As for the slow heals, LoTM can be really helpful in dungeons you just have to know when to use it and be really careful. FoL and HS are the bread and butter though. Nothing is really slow about our heals tbh. BoV is absolutely insane especially with Holy shock and bestow faith/IoL FoL. It works wonders and it's even getting better in 7.1.5 (it'll be refunding mana).

Holy Paladin currently is the most fun it's ever been in my opinion. There are so many viable talents, it's just a lot of fun. Your playstyle can be really different in m+ or raids. Apart from that, I believe Holy Paladins are the strongest healers in Legion right now.

too bad there often is not enough time to DPS while healing.
Those HS crits, dem huge indeed.

I love humilating scrubs in heroics when I'm top dps as a healer

    Pros:
    - single target (spot) healing is the strongest out of all healers
    - many viable talents, can influence gameplay quite a bit
    - interesting honor talents, strong offensive pressure
    - very high performance in raids, viable performance in m+ (I've personally healed through m12 NL without getting a heart attack)
    - very effective hps on the move (LotM spam)

    Cons:
    - AoE healing is on the weak side (especially spread healing)
    - Legendaries are lackluster (fixed in 7.1.5)
    - Mediocre mobility

    Overall:
Someone said above, and I as a hpally main for the 4th expansion in a row completely agree - hpallys are in a very good spot now and feel very fun and rewarding to play.

Doing something wrong is the answer here. A Holy Shock crit is pretty much a LoH sometimes. Bestow gets amazing value if used semi-smart (damage can often be predicted). The only thing we are missing is a spammable AoE heal but that would simply put us over fotm status.

Mine hit for like 650k max with wings - current gear level is 846 in all my holy stuff. fol's hit for around 200k. No legendaries or anything. I use bestow faith pretty much on cooldown, generally for the tank so I can make sure I have the on demand healing for the group.

I used to love healing, but I feel like maybe I have too many buttons to press now. I didn't mind healing in WoD or cata, and absolutely loved it in Wotlk.

    I love holy paladins!

They feel pretty strong. We have alot of burst healing with our wings, holy shock will basicly feel like Lay on Hands with a 4 seconds cooldown (healing for up to 6 million when fully buffed). If you know how to play with our mastery, the AoE healing can be better then people think, specially with Divine Purpose. i have alot of playtime on my holy pally and i personally like it alot, i've done alot of mythic + where we pretty much shine with our imense amount of damage. (i can pull out 500-600k+ dps on bosses, with the right talents ofcourse).
I've been able to do a mythic +15 BRH aswel, unfortunatly not in time (it sure was a struggle FeelsBadMan, but we had some really great attemps). As for raiding, they are also in a really good shape, because of the heavy tank healing. if you want some tips, feel free to ask!

I healed a normal, and the a heroic the other day. First time I've healed anything at max level in three years, first time healing anything while sober for about 8 years. Other than my spazzyness from not healing forever, it was actually pretty good. ST is obviously great, AoE isn't horrid if your group isn't scattered across the dungeon.

I would agree with most posters; holy is very very good in its current state, possibly the best (most mandatory) healer next to resto shaman in raids. They're very versatile and have tons of viable talents which alter your healing style a bit. However, for the OP who thinks he's doing something wrong. I do feel like a holy paladin without much crit is truly a struggle. I just got mine to max level a while ago. Gearing it up was fine and I quickly realised that you can pull all trash packs between two bosses in dungeons because Wings will carry the healing and keep the group up through anything pretty much. However, once you lose the crit from Wings and you go through 5 non-crit Holy Shocks, it does start to feel very very weak. So, get that crit and your holy paladin goes from a decent healer with insane cds to a living god.

I have raised this issue in another topic in the past month about my paladin alt, but here it goes again:

Currently sitting at 864 ilvl with only 30% crit. I don't feel too shabby, but I feel like people are on low health constantly in raids, even with the other 2 healers helping me.

In 5 mans, even mythic0 when they were new I have no issues; it's actually quite fun.

My strongest stat currently is mastery, which I believe our second best stat priority wise. However, it isn't as effective in raid most of the time due to constant moving.

Should I just go for lower ilvl items with crit? How much crit is acceptable?

I would be careful generalizing, I do not think palas the be the best healer atm, the other classes just bring too much utility or versatility in all scenarios.
Equal skilled players I dont think you can outperform a shaman or a monk in m+ and raids, druids maybe to certainly.

I do agree we can also shine in all scenarios, however m+ i would like to have more mobility, the monk has it way easier here and his basetoolkit does provide more sustainable "aoe" heals.

Maybe I am not ontop of my game yet, that could be true, but when I switch back to my holy from the mistweaver I feel I need to be way more mindful of my talents and skills used, than I need to be on my monk.

So I would say: we can be one of the best healers, however we need to be way more invested than other classes.

Would need to see logs here to know exactly whats going on.
In general, if the DDs fuck up, its your problem, if the tank doesn't use his CDs right, its your problem.

Can't remember that in any previous addons, healing felt so taxing than in this (well maybe back when not being crit immune and parry haste was still a thing).
So I am saying, if your raid is low, this may not neccessary be your fault.

paladins are the strongest healer right now

Well if you want to go as general as this, I will say: Resto Shaman is the strongest healer right now.
