Shenzhen - A robot attacked and injured a man at a tech fair in China, leading social media users to question if the machine’s actions were actually the opening gambit in a war waged by robots against humans.
A robot called ‘Little Chubby’ (小胖) was temporarily left without supervision at the hi-tech fair, when it suddenly smashed a glass booth and attacked a man.
Although initial reports all suggested that the robot acted of its own accord, Sina.com says that the incident was in fact caused by human error. Some remain unconvinced. The robot was eventually brought under control by workers at the centre and the injured visitor was taken to hospital on a stretcher.
Surrounded by a crowd of shocked expo-goers, Xiao Pang's last act was apparently to display a frowning face emotion on its screen in an attempt to show remorse.
“Maybe Little Chubby was just unhappy about being a made-in-China robot,” one Weibo user said.
Now 'Little Fatty' is set to be switched off for good as a result of its actions.
