I just think it is widely optimistic to think that Pence is saving it for anything. I doubt he sees any red lines at all. To get this far with this administration you have to have rationalized and internalized a lot of shit, I don't think Pence sees the existence of an exit ramp. If Trump fires Fauci against Pence's advice, I don't think that changes anything for Pence.

That said, I am not at all convinced it is Pence that is advocating for Fauci, it could also be McConnell. McConnell is really paranoid about the idea of a Democratic sweep in November on the back of this, and firing Fauci would not help his cause.

The CDC is now saying we could reach the peak this week.

I seem to remember the peak being announced as last week...but, whatever, better safe than sorry.

By the way, meat plants are starting to get in trouble as their workers get sick so...plan your shopping accordingly.

My buddy sent me some as a "thank you" for helping he and his wife out with a thing, and I was very underwhelmed by it all. I mean, don't get me wrong, I was grateful... but I was definitely not impressed by the quality.

Def, nothing beats a fresh select cut from the local butcher. But some people swear by em`. I just swear by the price because I'm always looking for a deal.

When your organization is 99% ignorant toadies, it is easier to fire the one guy that knows what he is talking about, and thus keeps disagreeing with everyone else. See also: McMaster, Mattis, Tillerson, Kelly...

Doesn't help that Fauchi is seen as smarter than Trump and more "popular" than Trump.

For the purpose of creating conflict and confusion, some in the Fake News Media are saying that it is the Governors decision to open up the states, not that of the President of the United States & the Federal Government,” tweeted Trump on Monday. “Let it be fully understood that this is incorrect. It is the decision of the President, and for many good reasons. With that being said, the Administration and I are working closely with the Governors, and this will continue. A decision by me, in conjunction with the Governors and input from others, will be made shortly!”

The depths of his ignorance and stupidity are only rivaled by the people who support it.

Yup, I guess it's time for someone to explain the 10th Amendment to him in small words. And then, as always, turn to the rest of the GOP and recite the 25th.

White House trade adviser Peter Navarro went air to criticize medical professionals for only warning about half of the risk from the coronavirus, the risk to people.

He's pretty unhappy that they haven't talked about the risk the economy -

“Instead, they piously preen on their soap boxes speaking only half of the medical truth without reference or regard for the other half of the equation,” he added, “which is the very real mortal dangers associated with the closure of the economy for an extended period.”
I'm not sure when the economy started having a pulse, but those darned doctors and their focus on keeping people safe and healthy aren't thinking about the damage they're doing to the economy!

That sounds a lot like "I know, but I'm not telling".

We know this is a lie, because otherwise states couldn't lock down without his permission, either. Which they did not ask for or wait for. Except Florida.

At least there is some consistency there since he, as an economist, wants to lecture doctors about medicine, and now he wants doctors to lecture him about economics.

He'll have to find doctors that give a fuck about that first. I'm sure they all do, they're impacted by this and many have already seen paycuts. But I'm also sure that their primary interest is in keeping people safe and healthy so that we can all get back to work sooner rather than later so that this thing doesn't drag out.

Yet again we're having the problem where the Trump administration seems to be hoping and planning for the best case scenario rather than the worst, and isn't willing to make the hard and unpopular short-term choices needed to keep this from being a longer term, more severe problem. Because those short-term decisions would be more strict shutdowns for sure, and that'd kill Trumps election chances. And it seems that "getting re-elected" is the primary driving force behind his decision making thus far.

    Our Ruling

Trump said that with voting by mail, "you get thousands and thousands of people sitting in somebody's living room, signing ballots all over the place."

Voting fraud in general is considered to be rare, although voting experts agree that the risks are greater for mail balloting than for in-person voting. Still, Trump didn’t produce any evidence for the "thousands and thousands" claim, and voting experts said his assertion doesn’t square with what is known about the actual cases of voting fraud in the recent past.

    We rate the statement False.
We have seen some absentee ballots get abused. Such as the North Caroina Republican election fraud, and uh...I think that's it. The charges involve people illegally collecting the ballots -- they were not mailed. See, the problem with faking a mailed ballot, is you have to hope the real ballot doesn't show up. Or I guess you could attempt to destroy the USPS or something.

Well Trump supporters you know the deal. Trump said there were thousands and thousands of people doing this. Thousands sounds like it would be very easy to find evidence of such, so you have 24 hours to find...let's say...ten. Yeah, ten sounds good.

Failure to find ten is evidence that Trump lied.

Failure to look for ten is evidence you know Trump lied. In other words, cowardice.

Corporations are people too my friend. Without the economy, they'll die. Think of the corporations.
