A number of candidates created Twitch accounts for non-gaming related purposes. Sanders had one, and I feel like a few other candidates did as well but they were never really used heavily. A few news outlets like WashPo have them as well, but I haven't the foggiest clue what they're used for nowadays.

No way. Pence would get slaughtered worse then Trump would. Absolutely nobody seems to have any respect for that guy. Anyone who really wants the sensible adult choice is voting Biden. "Trump, but more rational" isn't a thing anyone wants. The vitriol and casual racism is a feature, not a bug. Pence is a lot more subtle with his racism, and modern racist have moved past that. They don't want to have to hide their racism anymore. They feel like Trump has made it acceptable, and they really would like to keep it that way.

You can shout "White Power" in a MAGA hat without seeming out of place. You really can't do that in a Bush/Cheney hat, or even a McCain/Palin hat. Pence is a return to the GOP status quo that got resoundingly defeated in the 2016 GOP Presidential Primary. They didn't want it then, they don't want it now.

Pretty much. They don't want to have to buy the name from someone if YouTube went the way of Myspace, and Twitch turned into the dominant platform. It didn't happen of course, but it is kind of tough to know early on.

So nabbing them from squatters may be a part of it, but they were used as parts of their news/outreach efforts for a while. It's just...not a great platform for political activism and news coverage given the audience.

I would imagine for big names it's standard policy for their Social Media managers to grab accounts for new & popular sites that pop up. Low cost combined with big risk mitigation seems like a smart move.

May be possible that the GOP is pushing stories about Trump quiting so they can convince him to do it that way. Trump quiting by himself and Pence running after he Pardons him is probably their best case scenario to keep Trump's base while also letting Republican voters and woke independents get away with voting for their party of choice since Trump is no longer on the ticket.

Running stories about Trump needing to quit will only make him dig in deeper and make it less likely for him to quit, not more so.

I think Sanders is on like once a week.
