While infected with covid, because he wants to spread the virus apparently. Also, because he's roided the fuck out, dude.

What the heck difference does a virtual stage make over an in-person stage? You do realize, don't you, that this is what the US public sees during even an in-person debate, right?

It's certainly a "virtual" debate for all of us.

They're not doing the debate in person anymore because Trump has COVID and are making it a virtual/online event. Trump refuses to do a virtual/online debate.

    OH wait, it gets better.

As President Trump said, a virtual debate is a non-starter and would clearly be a gift to Biden because he would be relying on his teleprompter from his basement bunker.

Voters should have the opportunity to directly question Biden’s 47-year failed record of leadership. We agree that this should happen on October 22, and accordingly, the third debate should then be shifted back one week to October 29. The CPD and the media cannot hide Joe Biden forever. Americans deserve to hear directly from both presidential candidates on these dates, October 22 and 29.
First of all, attacking the Committee won't make any friends.

Second of all, "the media"? Didn't NBC News put Biden on a stage and lob softballs at him for an hour?

Third of all, hah hah, Trump accusing someone else of using a telepromptor.

Fourth of all, hah hah, Trump accusing someone else of hiding in a bunker.

Fifth of all, accusations without evidence all around. Conspiracy theories made up with no evidence in any way.

Hey @Zeth Hawkins you wanna weigh in on this, too? Can you find the evidence that Biden was using a telepromtor? Can you find the evidence of Biden hiiding in a bunker for the debate? This might be difficult, they haven't happened yet.

Especially since there isn't a physical audience at the debate anyway already thanks to the pandemic. It's literally just putting three people in separate rooms instead of in the same room. The ONLY reason Trump doesn't want to do it is because he doesn't want them to be able to cut him off when he inevitably tries talking past his time or interrupting Biden.

Trump admitted the fear is that his mic would be cut off. He wants to repeat last time, where he just shouted over Biden so much even FOX News host Chris Wallace said Trump was to blame -- during and after.

Trump is afraid they'll stop him from cheating. Trump is right to be afraid they'll stop him from cheating.

Well no, he's afraid he won't be able to talk past his time in the first place, or interrupt Biden in the first place.

He can't defend his record. That's why he and Pence changed strategies to JUST YELL LOUDER.

How weird a world is it where the President is too chickenshit to debate because they won't let him cheat. Even Nixon is like...huh?

Which the moderators could totally do during an in-person debate by turning off his podium mic (which they should have done if they had the balls to mute the "President")

Oh, it's ONE HUNDRED PERCENT because Trump is scared. He was just looking for an out, and he took the flimsiest excuse he could and, in his usual bloviated manner, is attempting to hide his fear under so much bluster so that he can fool anyone gullible enough to perceive it as strength, rather than cowardice.

Someone should tell him to save his breath (heh), because anyone stupid enough to fall for that line is already eyebrows-deep in the GoP swamp.

Absolutely, but after the shitshow of the last debate there has been more serious talk of doing this now.

Totally, he's lost all control of the media narrative and is throwing bombs everywhere in a desperate attempt to get it back in his control.

I'm just wondering if he'll even up and about come debate night. What with the reports that he's not still being tested and that his campaign is promising "multiple negative tests" ahead of the debate. And him still being high as shit on steroids.

Because Wallace didn't, the other moderators are now far more inclined to. They will learn from his admitted mistakes.

Yes, but even I didn't expect Trump to say "Biden will use a telepromptor in his bunker!" Like, holy shit, that's pretty projectioning.

Last nights moderator wasn't, and we had this problem throughout 2016 as well. I'm not optimistic, but at the same time I don't think Trump constantly going on angry grandpa shouts at cloud rants isn't helping him either. Even if it makes the debates nigh intolerable.

He's also shown a desire to be president for life without any elections, why do we care what he desires?

That's kind of my point. He doesn't want to do it because he knows they'll cut off his mic...and he doesn't want them to cut off his mic because then he can't rant to cover up the fact he's losing.

Yeah, sorry, I meant that you're clarifying my point. Apologies, been wrestling with pain-related insomnia more than usual the past week and I'm just now waking up (after 7pm local) and I'm not making a whole helluva lot of sense. I should just stay off of here until I'm alert. We need all of the lerts we can get.

I think that was kind of his ploy. He’s not physically well enough to do a debate but doesn’t want people to know it, so he says he wants to do the “live” one knowing Biden and the moderator aren’t stupid enough to want to be in the same room as an infectious Trump. They pivot to wanting to do an online debate, which, again, Trump is probably too sick to actually carry through on, so trump claims that online debates are hooey or whatever. He never wanted to debate; he might be too physically sick to as well. So what he’s really trying to do is frame him not wanting to do so in a way that makes him appear to have control of the situation.
