For no reason at all I'm reminded about all the times prominent conservative figures were 'viciously attacked' by milkshakes or having their hats flipped off or bear macing themselves or losing fights they started on video and how insufferable all the conservative posters and pendants wouldn't shut the fuck up about 'THE LEFT'S UNHINGED VIOLENCE!' and how much that contrasts to the absolutely callous disregard for this attack.

It's as if, again, they don't stand for anything besides being contrarian douche-bags with perpetual victim complexes.

We already know the attack was politcally motivated.

Using violence, force, and threats to change political discourse is the definition of terrorism.

The people you described are defending terrorism. I'm putting this out there, on the off-chance any of our, erm, "genuinie and serious posters" decide they want to side with the attacker on this one. Because objective descriptions of behavior are not insults.

I've asked a handful of the people who keep saying, "THIS ISN'T HOW SOMEONE WOKEN UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT BY A HAMMER WIELDING MANIAC WOULD ANSWER THE DOOR!", what that actually looks like.

I'm still waiting on an answer, because there's apparently a correct way to behave in this specific situation I'm unaware of, and I'd like to know what it is for future reference.

Yep, they are still claiming the glass was broken from the inside out, since they are stupid enough to think it is normal glass and not safety glass. No one uses normal glass anymore in building homes or replacing windows/doors. But they also claimed he let him in and that they were both in their underwear, even though you can clearly see it isn't the case. Also, they are still running with "he's a leftist" still because of where he lived 10 years ago.

I thought the correct way was to exercise your 2a rights and shoot anyone who startles you late at night in the face. Except cops of course. If a cop breaks down your door carrying out a no-knock-warrant you have to comply.

Trump at his most Trump in months. While talking about DeSantis:

If he runs, that’s fine. I’m way up in the polls. He’s going to have to do what he wants to do, but he may run. I do think it would be a great act of disloyalty because, you know, I got him in. He had no chance. His political life was over.
"His political life was over" likely refers to the fact that, just kidding, Trump is lying.

He's also wrong about the polls, especially in context. DeSantis tops Trump 42 to 30 in a very recent poll, done in New Hampshire, by the University of New Hampshire. Related: in June 2022, 57% of NH GOP wanted Trump to run in June 2022. That is now 46%. Related: 47% of people in the survey had a favorable opinion of Trump. 73% had a favorable opinion of DeSantis.

So, Trump is either lying about the polls, or intentionally ill-informed. Hiding in your bunker screaming NO NO NO so you don't hear the news isn't a redeeming character trait.

We need a president who can take on the whole system and a president who can win.
I agree. It's just, you know, not Trump, a proven loser.

    Trump's sleepy start to 2024

Nope, I didn't create that headline.

From party officials to state legislators, there wasn't a visible show of support for Trump's 2024 bid among rank-and-file New Hampshire Republicans in attendance.

In contrast to the large rallies that propelled him in 2016 and 2020, the New Hampshire event — timed to the state party annual meeting — was held in a compact high school auditorium, with about 400 people in attendance.
    "Oh, 400? That's embarrassing."

    Oh, just you wait.

The most organized show of Trump support was about a dozen fans standing outside the parking lot, who weren't credentialed for the event.

In a long-winded, hourlong address, Trump recalled what he says are his greatest successes — from cracking down on illegal immigration to stunting the spread of ISIS and launching the Space Force.

About one-third of the crowd loudly applauded as outgoing state party chairman Stephen Stepanek introduced Trump by endorsing his campaign.
    See?

    "What's one-third of 400?"

Something something, repeating of course meme.

But the speech overall drew a lukewarm reaction from the attendees.

Trump's biggest applause came 45 minutes into his speech, when he introduced a new proposal to crack down on critical race theory in public school classrooms. He also drew an enthusiastic response when he proposed a constitutional amendment for congressional term limits.

Noting that pundits have panned the former president's low-key schedule since announcing his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump responded: "I have two years. I’m more angry now and I’m more committed than ever.”

"Trump has not been mortally wounded but was damaged by the results in the midterm election," said former Republican state party chairman Wayne MacDonald, a state lawmaker. "Trump lost the 2020 election, and the number of people who still hold onto the belief that he didn't are a dwindling minority."
"Well, yes, that's pretty embarrassing indeed."

    Oh ho ho ho...wait.

Signs of enthusiasm for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis were notable throughout the event. The pro-DeSantis efforts were led by the super PAC Ron To the Rescue, which set up shop inside the GOP meeting. A second DeSantis supporter was selling T-shirts at a stand.

A life-sized cutout of DeSantis stood just outside the auditorium. Only a smattering of visible signs of Trump enthusiasm — red MAGA hats from his most devoted supporters — were present in the high school's hallways.

One Republican in attendance estimated to Axios that about half of the party rank-and-file in the room were Trump supporters in general, while another half wanted the party to move on. Another said there were "pockets" of Trump support within party leadership, but it was not widespread.
That's right -- there was almost as much support for DeSantis as Trump, and DeSantis wasn't even there.

Now I don't like to draw on conspiracy theories...so I won't. But, I have enough CNN points to burn and cite this article mostly about how Trump is going after DeSantis because DeSantis is his biggest obvious rival.

But in that article, there is mention of others.

New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu told CNN’s Dana Bash on “State of the Union” on Sunday that right now DeSantis would probably win the Granite State’s GOP primary. Sununu, who told Bash he’s considering his own White House bid in 2024, also took a swipe at Trump’s demeanor and the size of his event, which was an address to party activists rather than one of his seething rallies in a state where he won the 2016 GOP primary.

“He comes to New Hampshire, and, frankly, he gives a very mundane speech. The response we have received is, he read his teleprompter, he stuck to the talking points, he went away,” Sununu told Bash. “So he’s not really bringing that fire, that energy, I think, that a lot of folks saw it in ’16. I think, in many ways, it was a little disappointing to some folks."

"So I think a lot of folks understand that he’s going to be a candidate, but he’s also going to have to earn it. And that’s New Hampshire.”

Judging by his remarks about DeSantis and evangelical leaders, Trump is not yet ready to acknowledge that reality. Though his decision to visit an ice cream parlor late in the day in South Carolina was an unusual foray into retail politics and first-person contact with voters.
    "Wait, he did what now?"

Oh, yeah, remember all those times religious people laid hands on Trump and prayed to him?

"I think you mean for him."

Not really, no. That shit isn't over. At this ice cream parlor, an employee did just that. Whole thing's on camera, FOX News showed it, got my CNN point back bitches.

"Well, at least he's not spewing..."

    Spewing what?

"You already have the quote. Just paste already."

"We’re going to stop the left-wing radical racists and perverts who are trying to indoctrinate our youth and we’re going to get their Marxist hands off of our children," he said.
    *cracks knuckles*

I would love to hear more about the left wing radical racists. And, as this is a fast-moving thread and Trump's words, actions, and policies are something @tehdang has demonstrated for years he would regard in a positive light, I feel I can ask him directly about them. Bear in mind, we already have a new thread about Nazi education on Telegram, so the bar for "racist indoctrination" are already set sieg high. You're going to have to demonstrate how left wing radicals are more racist.

"You gonna ask him about perverts, too?"

No, not even he will take a swing at that one while trying to defend someone who wants to fuck his own daughter.

I've got to say it's incredible that our political system has reached such a peak of absolute stupidity that in spite of being handed the best possible economic ground for victory, the Republicans have still managed to find a way to fuck themselves over because DeSantis and Trump may well split the vote. It's incredible seeing how each party continues to play "limbo" with their chances at winning 2024—it's become legitimately difficult to tell which party will win simply because they're both making such an amazing effort at defying all analysis derived from preexisting precedents by digging themselves both into the most disadvantageous possible situation.

Sadly, the camera cuts away before Trump demands that he's the only one allowed to have two scoops of ice cream.

There's a Rick and Morty line trio I think might be a reference to how Trump handled Russia:

"Does China know about that dealbreaker?"
"China doesn't piss on the White House!"
"Well, why would they? I'm sure it was expensive."

When thinking about how Trump and Russia got along, that keeps coming to mind. Russia wasn't acting out quite so blatantly while Trump was in charge, because they were getting exactly what they wanted: a chaotic USA too ruined by its own leadership to keep average citizens from breaking into the Capitol.

Now that said, I don't think Russia will keep paying Trump. Fund bots to boost what Trump thinks is support, yes, give Trump money, no. Russia doesn't fund losers, they throw losers out into the cold to die. And Putin orders hits on people who don't live up to expectations. The better buy right now would be DeSantis, but DeSantis is looking to work with classic Republicans and doesn't want Russian money on his job application. He...doesn't have a spotless record, but it's not as clear-cut as with Trump, also he's also not sucking Putin's dick onstage like Trump is.

So expect Russia to continue to spam Twitter with bots while shopping for a candidate. Lake would be a good choice, but she's thinking too small.

Manhattan DA to begin presenting evidence to grand jury for possible criminal charges against Trump

The Manhattan DA will present the hush money payment case to a grand jury for indictment. Two of the witnesses? DAVID PECKER and DYLAN HOWARD from the The National Enquirer.

Yeah just to make sure everyone's on the same page, this is about the $130,000 illegal campaign contribution. It is not about Trump's taxes.

Oh, and two of the other witnesses? Jeffrey McConney and Deborah Tarasoff, Trump Org employees, and likely the ones who cut the checks.

People have been predicting that these two would throw the Trump org under the bus for awhile now. I guess we'll have to sit and hope.

    Trump has many regrets.

One of those regrets is spending years speaking extensively to journalist Bob Woodward on the record, including consenting to allowing himself be recorded.

Regretting that decision as Woodward's reporting wasn't exactly an endorsement and Trump otherwise facing an onslaught of losses where he's desperate for any win, he's now suing Bob Woodward claiming that Woodward did not have consent to release the recordings.

Honestly, based off their respective track records alone I think we can all safely guess who is telling the truth.

Woodward is a legend in this field. There is an effectively zero percent chance he doesn't have contracts for exactly this.

Trump's lawyers claim that the audio collected in the interviews was “protected material”
False. Trump declassified it with telepathy.

Also, Trump is claiming Woodward promised not to release the tapes (etc) and I'm just going to say now "no such contract exists".

    So what's happening?

    1) Trump is having yet another senior moment, like the one a few days ago where he forgot he knew Diamond and Silk personally. He gave Woodward permission then forgot, like he forgot he's not in the WH and he forgot Eric exists.

    2) Trump is insane and his narcisistic ego is telling what's left of his brain "Woodward agreed to anything you said, because everyone does, because you're the best bestiest best and everyone loves you" and he literally can't fathom otherwise.

    3) Trump is just lying.

    4) I admit it's physically possible that Woodward did, in fact, promise Trump this kind of magical half-confidentiality where he would use the recording to accurately quote Trump in his book, but then never use that same recording for anything else. I don't believe this is true, but I admit it's physically possible.

As I keep saying, I am no expert, but I find the following two things very hard to believe are both true at the same time:
    a) Trump and Woodward signed a contract that limits what Woodward can do with the material he's already published in written form.
    b) Trump waited since October until now to sue.

If Trump truly had ironclad proof that Woodward broke the contract Woodward signed, he'd have pounced immediately. He did not. I believe the delay demonstrates the lack of a contract Woodward signed.

And, as Edge- said, if it comes to Woodward vs. Trump in terms of credibility, Woodward will dominate. Even if it was two random strangers, if one says "the other broke a contract" the judge will ask "show me the contract". No contract, Trump fails the burden of proof.

I hope this turns out to be one of those cases where the judge hits Trump and/or Trump's lawyers for bringing a lawsuit with only baseless allegations.

    - - - Updated - - -

Shit, I forgot to add: Trump is seeking $50 million in damages. He is not claiming the tapes are false. Therefore, Trump is saying Woodward putting out tapes with Trump's voice, but not the transcripts in words, is damaging to Trump.

Yeah, figure that one out. Trump is claiming that his own words are damaging to himself. But only if played aloud, not if read.

I know of no logic that fits this.

So, according to Trump's own lawyers... Trump was discussing protected material with a journalist... but he got Woodward to pinky swear he wouldnt release the tapes?

Trump needs to hire better lawyers. I don't know much about lawyering....but im pretty sure one of the bigger rules is to not implicate your client.
