Not sure if this was posted, but Fauci's time might be up:"

US infectious disease chief Dr Anthony Fauci is being targeted by the Trump administration as tensions rise between the health expert and the president.
The White House has been increasingly critical of Dr Fauci, and on Sunday, an official shared a list detailing past apparent erroneous comments.
Dr Fauci's changing advice on masks and remarks on Covid-19's severity are among the points from the White House.
The White House memo leaked over the weekend had noted "several White House officials are concerned about the number of times Dr Fauci has been wrong on things".

It’s why we should show the man a lot of respect. As a lot of people are quitting, because Trump refuses to listen to experts and then blames them for results. Fauci’s refusal to go silent into the night, has made him a target.

It was mentioned a page or two back but not with a link. The thing is they're trying to call him out for being wrong on exactly the same things ALL experts were wrong on at the start of the pandemic when they were still learning about it. They're also ignoring the fact that Trump has been wrong about EVERYTHING every step of the way.

Anything to push the blame away from Trump.

Funny how Fauci being wrong is a problem, but Trump being wrong is not. Also, Trump has spent the last two months not talking to Fauci, just dictating policy like large packed indoor rallies and forcing work/school to re-open by threats and the literal draft.

You want to replace people who've been wrong? Start at the top.

Related, Cuomo comes out of the corner swinging.

We’re not going to use our children as a litmus test and we’re not going to put our children in a place where their health is in danger. It’s that simple, common sense and intelligence can still determine what we do even in this crazy environment. We’re not going to use our children as guinea pigs.
Cuomo announces the rules for school re-opening summarized in this tweet:

We all want schools to open but it has to be safe. In NY we will decide based on the data.

Schools will reopen if a region is in Phase 4 & daily infection rate remains below 5% (14-day avg).

Schools close if regional infection rate is greater than 9% (7-day avg) after August 1.
Now if you'll excuse me, my work email just filled up...yes, the two are related.

I could have replied to anyone here at this point, but, the Rolling Stone headline pulls zero punches.

If You Weren’t Afraid to Send Your Kids Back to School, DeVos’ Disastrous Interview Might Change That

The secretary’s focus was on the single message that schools need to re-open. But other than threatening to defund schools that refuse, she provided no answers for how they might deal with a possible outbreak and placed that responsibility on the institutions themselves.

“The key is that kids have to get back to school,” DeVos said, “And we know there are going to be hot spots. And those need to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. But the rule should be that kids go back to school this fall. They have been missing months of learning.”

When DeVos tried to minimize the possibility that children will spread the virus, Bash used two examples that showed the concern is real. The host mentioned a Missouri summer camp that was forced to close after 82 campers and staff tested positive. And Bash also cited a report out of Texas where more than 1,300 children and employees in child care facilities have tested positive.

Bash also reminded the secretary that the CDC itself says the grouping of children “put everyone at risk.”

“Here’s what the CDC guidelines say: ‘If children meet in groups, it can put everyone at risk. Children can pass this virus onto others who have an increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19.’” Bash added, “That’s your own federal government’s guidelines.”

DeVos again noted that the priority should be for the children to be back in school.

“There’s going to be the exception to the rule, but the rule should be that kids go back to school this fall. And where there are little flare-ups or hot spots, that can be dealt with on a school-by-school or a case-by-case basis,” DeVos said.

Bash tried to pin DeVos down again, asking, “So, I want to be clear from you. As the secretary of education, should schools in the United States follow the CDC recommendations or not?”

DeVos ducked the question by saying that the head of the CDC refers to the guidelines as “recommendations.”

So, Bash asked again: “What I want to know is if the federal government is all on the same page. As the secretary of education, should schools follow the guidelines of the CDC?”

DeVos said yes, the government does agree. But she spun the question into one about only re-opening schools and not whether CDC guidelines should be followed.

The federal government is “very much on the same page,” DeVos continued, saying, “Kids need to get back to school. They need to get back in the classroom. Families need for kids to get back in the classroom. And it can be done safely.”
Many media outlets know facts. Rolling Stone knows entertainment. They call out DeVos as a bad actor, one sent to deliver a single message regardless of which questions were asked. "Should schools follow CDC guidelines?" is not a question that anyone should choke on in general, but definitely not one you should choke on when you're leading the Department of Education and going on live TV on purpose.

Incidentally, the article continues with Pelosi's comments following that interview -- the stillshot from the video shows The Disappointed Mom Look while the caption below says "Stone is still a convicted felon".

Like I said, Rolling Stone knows entertainment.

I have seen somewhere (will find link) that Fauci can't be fired by Trump - which is probably why he's still around. Hence the attack campaign, because it's all they know how to do.

And now, the story of Richard Donald Rose III1.

Richard Rose, a 37-year-old man from Port Clinton, Ohio, recently died from coronavirus after slamming "hype" about the pandemic on Facebook.

Rose's family told Cleveland CBS affiliate 19 News the US Army veteran died at home on July 3, just three days after testing positive for COVID-19.
Now I am going to step in at this point and give you the option to stop reading if something in the back of your mind is saying "Breccia is gleeful that this man has died". First, if you're even thinking that, you haven't been reading my posts very clearly, and you won't be able to back that up. Two, the point of most of my posts on these forums is education and especially the condemnation of hypocrisy. Rose can still further the country he served and maybe even save lives, by people who understand what happened to him and why, so they don't repeat his mistakes. Three, I recommend reading the terms of service before calling anyone else a sociopath without evidence (and see step 1, good luck). Four, perhaps consider that any anger towards me for presenting this message could be better spent learning from it. And five, it's been my experience here that most people who rush out to use strawmen ("you just want to see Trump supporters die!") are themselves demonstrating the early steps of this story, and I urge you to change course before it's too late, as shown in the following bolded for emphasis:

Rose's death has attracted attention online due to his public Facebook posts, in which he voiced support for President Donald Trump, criticized Black Lives Matter protesters, made jokes about rape, and accused Democrats of spreading false information about the pandemic in order to "rig the elections in their favor."

A tweet compiling a slideshow of Rose's posts, asking people to "watch how this unfolds," has garnered nearly 150,000 likes.

"Let make this clear. I'm not buying a f---ing mask. I've made it this far by not buying into that damn hype," Rose posted on April 28.

On May 12, he wrote that he was "sick" of seeing "s--- about COVID" and on May 18, he posted an Islamaphobic meme that compared a niqab to a medical mask.

Throughout June, Rose "checked in" on Facebook at bars and restaurants in Ohio.

On July 1, Rose wrote on Facebook that he was experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.

"I've been very sick the past few days," he wrote. "This morning I finally got swabbed. I should know soon what the results are. I just want to feel good again!"

Just one hour later, Rose revealed that he'd officially tested positive.

"Well. I'm officially under quarantine for the next 14 days," he wrote. The following day, Rose wrote, "This covid s--- sucks! I'm so out of breath just sitting here."
    And...you know how it ends.

Rose's friends seem upset that the FB story of his death, and the actions leading to it, are circulating so much. Unfortunately they have little to say on the matter: Rose chose to make his story public while he was alive. He chose to make a public, political statement, one that would not just risk his life but actually end it. To want the story swept under the rug, or to deny the events that led up to it, that's hypocrisy. They also say we should be compassionate about someone's death, whether we agree with them or not. I'm a bit more inclined to agree with that one, but I'm not there yet -- even Rose's friends admit, Rose may have endangered the health or lives of others, and I contend Rose took that risk of his own free will.

He would have been 38 later this month. His obituary is here. If anything about Rose's story feels close to your own, maybe follow the link and leave your condolences or perhaps order and plant a memory tree for a two-tour veteran.

But if nothing else, if this story sounds at all too close to home, remember: you can still learn from this. You can change. But the only person who can make that happen, is you.

US rejects China's claim to the South China Sea.

Now, near as I can tell, this aligns with world court findings (although, funny story, China's being accused of breaking the UN Law of the Sea treaty and, well, the US never signed that). And the US isn't the only country who is cautious about what China's doing out there.

    But, um...

    1) Nothing about that has changed since Trump was almost elected. Why declare now?

    2) What will this declaration do? We don't know yet. I suppose it could be harmless posturing, a tough guy act from the acting President. Or, it could be an announcement Trump's going to just so coincidentally sail some warships right between some fortified islands with a "hey, this water is just as much ours as yours" attitude. Which itself could be more IMPOTUS limp-dick-waggling. Or, it could lead to violence, since China hasn't exactly demonstrated a sense of humor on the issue.

    3) This appears to be yet more escalation from back-and-forth sanction and tariff fights, both of which Trump started, one of which was justified. Neither side wants to be the one to "show weakness" by letting an insult slide, turning this into a game of chicken. Problem is, Trump's driving an F-150 and China's behind the wheel of a semi. More and more, the world wants China's money and alliance than ours, and quite frankly, the US economy was in trouble before the outbreak, due to the trade war. This will make things worse.

Hopefully this is just Trump trying to distract from his stacked roster of failures by bringing someone up from the minor leagues. Hopefully, this blows over. Because I had said for some time that Trump would start a war to salvage his failing tenure, but WWIII wasn't what I had in mind.

Oh, I believe Trump will do absolutely anything he can to hurt the country as much as possible between now and next January. Damaging the country and hurting as many people as possible is the point. He may or may not succeed in starting WW3 or a civil war, but I fully believe he will try, and it will only get worse if there is a real election and he loses.

    I found this on Twitter:

As of July 6, forecasts suggest 12 states and 1 U.S. territory are likely to report more #COVID19 deaths in the next 4 weeks than previous 4 weeks. Nationally, between 140,000 and 160,000 total deaths are expected by August 1.
It was posted July 10. The states and territories are Arizona, Alabama, Florida, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and West Virginia.

So...which of those states voted for Trump?

"Well not California, but...um...California's not on the list?"

Nope. The source suggests California's leveling off, or dropping.

    "Which librul socialist --"

The CDC Twitter also has a link to this study showing all the states, such as, oh I don't know, Florida?

"What's with all the rainbow colors?"

Each is a different projection by a different study. The CDC is looking at what everyone has to say. By the way, MIT stands for what you think it does. Hit the link for more details on each study and their methodology.

Trump's own CDC is predicting anywhere from five to twenty-five thousand more American lives lost before the month ends. Splitting the difference, that's still pretty close to a thousand a day. And let's face it, even at the time they wrote it, 140,000 was a fever dream.

Native American lawmaker: 'Redskins' name change 'should have been made a long time ago'

Rep. Deb Haaland (D-N.M.), the co-chairwoman of the House Native American Caucus, said Monday she is "glad" Washington, D.C.'s NFL team is changing its name, but said the change "should have been made a long time ago."

“It shouldn’t take a huge social movement or pressure from corporate sponsors to do the right thing, but I’m glad it’s happening," said Haaland in a statement.

“It’s wrong for a national football team to perpetuate racist attitudes, but for decades the Washington NFL team refused to recognize the role their name plays in projecting racist stereotypes about Native Americans even after multiple protests and requests," said Haaland, who along with Rep. Sharice Davids (D-Kan.) became one of the first two Native American women elected to Congress in 2018.

"With decades of work by organizers and activists, public outcry, a moment reckoning with our country’s racist past, and corporate sponsors willing to put more pressure on the Washington NFL team’s management to do the right thing, we made this change together. A change that should have been made a long time ago," said Haaland.

Haaland said the name change will be positive for both the team and Native American communities.

"Now, young Native kids won’t be faced with the racist attitudes and gestures that come from having mascots that perpetuate stereotypes and silence indigenous voices and culture," said Haaland.

"A whole new generation of fans of Washington NFL football will have a team name and mascot they can be proud of,” she added.
    Sorry, Trump, you were saying?

I agree with this. The reason I think he will be limited in the amount of damage that he inflicts upon the country is that people are starting to push back big time against him and his most toxic supporters. This push back absolutely has to continue, and to accelerate if Trump and Trump supporters accelerate their activities.

Trump's numbers have fallen to about the high 30s. I am fervently and anxiously awaiting a further drop into the mid and even low 30s. If that happens, then he may find himself neutered and unable to really effect anything, and his supporters will mostly back down and stick to petty stuff.

Hey remember those nutty deficits under U-Bumma?

    Trump breaks another record!

Who ever said wrong moves could cost Trillions?

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/mark...?ocid=msedgdhp

The federal government’s budget deficit soared to a monthly record of $864 billion in June, as Washington doled out huge sums of money to try to aid small businesses and unemployed workers amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The increase last month pushed the budget gap for the current fiscal year to $2.7 trillion, compared to $747 billion in the same nine-month period last year, the U.S. Treasury Department said Monday. The government operates on annual budget that runs from Oct 1. to Sept. 30 instead of using the calendar year more common in the business world.

The U.S. is on track to register a record $3.7 trillion deficit this year owing to an unprecedented effort to prop up the economy. The last time the U.S. ran such huge deficits — measured as a percentage of the economy — was during World War Two.

Hey when was the last time the US lost 140,000 people and counting? I'm moderately to highly confident that WWII killed more than 140,000 Americans, but anything since I don't think so. Proportionately, WWII and now might be pretty close. The H2N2 flu of 1957 killed 116,000 Americans -- proportionately more than COVID-19 due to population growth, but H2N2 is done and COVID-19 is picking up steam.

It's becoming reasonable to believe that Trump might kill more Americans in a year, than any other short-term cause like a war or outbreak. (Other long-term causes like cancer have a head start)
