It's all partisan politics. As we've seen, Republican politicians who are on their way out the door in 2020 are speaking out against Trump. Those who still have to win elections in the future are all getting in line to give Trump their best political BJs.

Supreme Court justices however, do not have to win reelection. The problem is that we know that 2-3 of them are firmly in Trump's camp regardless of what he does. The question is how compromised the other 2-3 center-right judges are.
