If he doesn't appear in chronicles 3 (or more likely 4) he would effectively be retconned out. Blizzard can still make the choice.
I personnaly have no hate against Med'an. Sure it's a poorely made character, but he's far from the only one in warcraft lore. And outside a comics didn't impact the story.
Holy shit.
"After Thrall had departed, Garrosh turned his gaze northwest, to the lust forests of Ashenvale. ... but that did not stop Garrosh from sending troops into the woodlands ... The horde's new incursion into Ashenvale enraged the alliance. Tensions between the factions flared, and open war seemed inevitable. ... Cairne spoke the only language the orc would understand. He challenged Garrosh to a mak'gora a ritualistic duel."
So... all that stuff Garrosh didn't do in The Shattering... he actually did do? Are you kidding me? Why are we throwing his character under the bus?
They also retconned Sylvanas into also wanting Gilneas, even though she had never shown interest in the city before Cataclysm, and everything in-universe and out of game implied that she didn't want to be in this war? Are you serious Blizzard?
As I once said in another thread, IMHO, when it comes to AvH stuff I think that we'll see quite many retcons of the past stories and new stories will be written in a way to portray the Horde as either grey or relatively evil (shadier than the Alliance) faction because of "Son of the Wolf" thingy.
Basically, everything will be done to develop Anduin as the chosen one, so his faction got the better end of a deal.
"We're more of the love, blood, and rhetoric school. Well, we can do you blood and love without the rhetoric, and we can do you blood and rhetoric without the love, and we can do you all three concurrent or consecutive. But we can't give you love and rhetoric without the blood. Blood is compulsory. They're all blood, you see." ― Tom Stoppard, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
So Lich King basically wants to do on Azeroth what Sargeras was doing on cosmic scale.
yeah idk, cataclysm hinted at us killing sylvanas and garrosh being a great leader, stonetalon twilight highlands, etc.
meanwhile sylvanas is using the plague when told not to, and raising more undead, even having the guts to joke about something that just happened "I serve the horde" ffs. i was so sure SoO woulda been SoU

that or what wrathion wanted sorta, to kill the other faction off.

Horde Raided BoT and Alliance Grim Batol.
They seem to be giving each Raid a ''faction'' that clears it, that's probably gonna be the most interesting thing in the book, with a spice of character assesination.
To be fair, Garrosh's character was all over the place in the last three expansions he was in. While there were some core values remaining the same, I think we can all agree that there were quite a few things that were rather inconsistent as mentioned many times in Garrosh's threads. There might be other ways to explain those inconsistency (other than "we had different writers / ideas of Garrosh while working on those expansions" that is), but at least, by doing this, at least Blizzard made everything lined up, for better or worse. If anything, it was rather long overdue - I assume they couldn't find any opportunity to retcon his character until this.
