Did you pass your driving exam on the first try?

So in Canada to get your license you go in at 16 and do an exam, then wait 1 year and do 1 more exam and then 2 years after that you do your third.

    The first is just writing.
2nd is driving for like 35 mins.
3rd one is driving for like 1 1/2 hours.

I'm at the 2nd one, I have failed it 2 times, and my third attempt is tomorrow.
I drive amazingly, not a single screw up on any points... except shoulder checking.
The first time I went in to do the 2nd exam I got 3 points off on shoulder checks only. Same thing the second time. Do I have to yell it out or something? I don't do it all the time because I know there ain't nobody there, but even so they take points off. Shiiit.

    Tips?
How many tries it take you?

The exams themselves are set up differently in Denmark than what you described, but I failed my written exam twice before I passed and then I failed the driving exam once. It was mostly due to long gaps in between driving sessions which lead to me being very nervous about the whole thing.

On the 2nd driving exam I had 1.5 hour driving lessons on the 3 days leading up to the exam, so I was far more confident in my driving on exam day.

Here we have a theory exam and then a driving test.

I failed the theory exam once, passed on second try. Passed the driving test on the first try.

The theory exam consists of like 50 photos and you can watch each of them for like 10 seconds (it's done on a computer) and there is a claim like "I can turn right from here / I am allowed to overtake / The car on the right is parked correctly" etc. and you need to choose yes/no. You can only fail one or two photos IIRC. There was also some kind of questionnaire about general driving things and laws regarding it.

I completed my driving school with a truck so I have a BC license.

Passed both theory and driving on first try. I thought I failed the driving test when all of a sudden I was told to head back where we started. Apparently the time had nearly ran without me realizing, and the tester had seen no errors, so felt there was no need for going further. In general I'm better driver than I feel I am. Well, at least better that way than the other way.

Yes, but I'm not very good and I hate it.

I never failed. But I was 17 when I got my permit and like 19 when I got my license. So I took the tests a bit later than other people.

Not really. It makes you human. You may be much better at other things some fail at.

I passed the exam first try. Then again, I would sit on my dad's lap and he would let me drive at a very early age. Also, had to learn how to drive a tank, apc's and jeeps when I was in the Army at age 17. Did not take my civilian driver's license exam until I was discharged at age 20.

lol, no. Took me a total of 3 tries, but not because of my inability, but because the cars we were using were rejected.

First car, the e-brake didn't work so that was an instant fail. Then the second car we tried had a foot break for the e-break on the left side of the driver, so that was also an instant fail. Once I was given a car to use which met their requirements, I aced it.

As for how we are tested. We took our written exam in school at 16 years old. Then we applied for a permit at the motor vehicle commission. After 1 year of being on a permit, we were given a road test on a closed course. They test your knowledge of signs, and abilities to use signals, proper stopping distance, and different turning and parking techniques. Once you passed that, you were allowed to then go back to the motor vehicle commission and get your license at 17 years old.

This has changed since then, but this was back in 1998 when I got my license.

First try for me. I had to take my written test and driving test on the same day. I had a couple friends that failed a few times on the driving part, though. I don’t know anyone that failed the written. Good luck. You’ll get it.

Nope, I failed the first one by a like 2 points. Basically it was just a practice and experience thing no real issues. Driving is EASY and fun so naturally I just continued practice driving. Went back in 2 weeks passed the test but missed points because, a mail truck was stopped with it's lights on in a two lane road JUST behind a crosswalk and it was double yellow road in a downtown area. Naturally I stopped, looked ahead, passed the mail truck safely. Apparently that was "WRONG". Apparently I was supposed to wait until the mail truck started moving. To be honest, the driver was not in the truck and he was probably in one of the buildings nearby. Could have taken 30 minutes really. I even went slow because, I could not quite see the crosswalk on both sides till I was at the front bumper of the mail truck which was on edge of the crosswalk.

Tricky situation and I was like, "fine whatever" no one died lol.

about 8 years later I enrolled to take CDL truck drivers license testing. Since I grew up with a family business and big trucks were around on our private property. Pffh, was like cake. In fact I actually did far better in a big truck than a little car. Was WAY more fun as well. The instructors were showing the students how to backup, parallel park, etc. Then it comes time for a week long training of parking, and the likes. I get in first try, back up, then swivel it around parallel park. Easy mode, think I finished it about 10 mins tops. Next week was driving and naturally I was actually nervous a lot with 6 people in the truck watching. But, once I actually got going that nervousness went away. I did extremely well, pretty flying colors.

Was actually asked by one instructor who ran the program of which he actually used to work for our family company said, "Hey I need someone experienced to help drive back a truck from like 3 hours away". I naturally was like, "sure if it counts to driving time I got no problem with staying after hours". Rode with the guy down in one truck, rode with him in my truck driving back. Was pretty fun actually, went the back roads and hilly areas. Was super fun. Mind this is all manual shifting trucks none of them autos crap. Easy mode to drive a stick considering I was born on manual trans.

Was fun, though it's not my job and I keep my license up to date as well.

I have passed every license test I've ever taken on the first try. Standard driving license, Motorcycle endorsement and Chauffeurs license. The shit is stupid easy the chauffeurs license is the only one that isn't 99% common sense you have to know axle weight limitations and stuff like that.

    theory took 3 tries.
    Practical first try.

Just narrate everything you do. It will help remind you and indicate to the examiner that you are doing it.

    Yep, was easy.

Where I live, you have to take a drivers ed course to get your first license at 16. Course lasted like 2 months and included both classroom/written instruction and practical driving hours with an instructor. Believe you had to log 10 hours of drive time with an instructor to be able to pass the course and had to pass the course in order to apply for license.

I passed both the course and the written and practical driving test with 0 demerits.

This thread does provide anecdotal evidence to my theory that most people can’t drive for shit.
People working 2 jobs in the US (at least one part-time) - 7.8 Million (Roughly 4.9% of the workforce)

People working 2 full-time jobs in the US - 360,000 (0.2% of the workforce)

Average time worked weekly by the US Workforce - 34.5 hours
